Cavendish closes in on Armstrong

One more stage win and Mark Cavendish will equal Lance's tally of 22 - could be as early as tomorrow. What a great achievement from a wonderful young man, who has, so far, avoided the taint of drugs allegations.

He produces the goods time and again with or without the team train. Great to watch.

He deserves that....loved his comments in his interview, "bonus rider", "had to be plucky"....

Don't see Wheelsuck Sagan thanking team mates for a win they did not help him with, but Cav does it in any case.

Something you want to tell us about your fellow countryman ?

He's a machine but left it to almost the last second yesterday, was very close.

I'm sure LA's record will be broken - soon.

How can you even compare Armstrong and Cavendish??

I must admit, Cavendish has only now finally earned my resepct as a sprinter. Took him a long time to learn to sprint without his "train".

Will he pull out of the tour after 2 weeks to recover for the Olympics? Love watching him go and I can't see anyone hanging with him on the sprints in this edition of the tour.

Yeah.

The true greats can win the Tour without winning a single stage. Or win every stage...

Mostly for fun, and to show that you can do a lot of things with statistics.

Cavendish makes the Tour for me because he's British and helluva likeable now. Much like Robbie Hunter when he had that great year with Barloworld.

Sports fans arent sposed to be reasonable, so to be honest, the anonymous crowd of european stick insects dont do it for me in the same way, regardless of their obvious talent and bravery.

Keep your peepers peeled. I think he's gonna take a stage this year.
