Dont they put on a big markup so when you ask for discount it seems like a good deal but you still paying same price or more than every where else?

I paid about 5% more than if I bought the same saddle at www.chainreactioncycles but then 14% VAT and shipping still would have been added.

I think thats the standard "practice" flea-market mentality in SA.

It's only kept under control by internet shops and good competition.

I think the problem is just as much with the consumer as it is with the shops.

Imo, the shop with most accurate and realistic ticket prices have always been linden cycles.... you wont ever get more than 5% discount unless you really push your luck.

Then support the lab, no need to brag or to feel guilty. Your choice.

I am not an impulsive buyer, I do my research and then support the cheapest.

The Lab also state they will match or better an item sold at other LBS, condition being the same item must not be on special at the other LBS.

Ive only ever had great service from Solomons. I found the parts prices in general to be cheaper than some of the "high end" LBS prices.

Always willing to give a discount.

If I deal with a person, and I get good service, I support them, price is not always the factor to me.Some shops have higer rentals, more stock, and longer working hours .

Leigh s cycles to me ,have always met my high expectations, recommend Jason, in particular.

Solomons was about the only bike shop willing to sell a rear wheel without me having to buy a front one as well!

Inexpensive Shimano M475 hubs with inexpensive rims.

Solomons in woodmead sorted a helmet warranty out for me- i did not even buy the helmet there- was a bell, they told me to take my pick off their shelf, they will deal with Omni. Paid the 30% re the warranty rules and had my new helmet same day!

FYI- the shop i actually bought the helmet from wanted 60% re the warranty- i called Omni and they confirmed only 30% and the shop where i bought the helmet was adding an extra mark up!
