So how is that SID fork working out for you?

I've enjoyed this new one far more than previous versions. It has a much better feel with the Charger damper and other changes.

I've heard rumours about a 120 mm version coming out next year, which I feel will really suit the Stage.

Anything in particular that you're looking to know?

Thanks Nick, you pretty much answered my question.

I'm picking up my new Stage frame in about a month or so but am still undecided on which fork to fit. I like the SID 100ml provided its got the charger damper. Been offered a 2017 SID RL for approx R10500.00 (still brand new) which i think is a good deal.

I'm just not sure if i should go 100ml or 120ml yet???? Going to use the bike mainly for marathon type riding.

Got the Revelation on my One Ten and love that fork too so its staying on the One Ten.

Any suggestions welcome.............

My theory is that you can never have enough travel, so would go with the 120..

Also had the Revelation (140) on my 110, upgraded to a Pike on my Max and the difference is incredible. The Revelation also gave me a few issues, whereas the Pike has been flawless.

when are you getting your new steed Tom?

I have the Stage with a SID 120mm front, for those that know Thaba, I gun it down most any hill.

love it.

Got it configured with the SRAM command lockout which locks the front and the rear in one go.

Cheers Tom, was waiting for your input ;)

I am leaning towards 120 but just dont know what...not a Fox fan so busy doing my "research".

Touch wood my Revelation has been great and I've hammered my One Ten over the years.

What would you fit on a Stage build as a matter of interest?

Very nice!! I know Thaba very well.

What SID exactly do you have? Year?

For my 120 I ride with a revelation RCT3 (120mm), but sure a 34mm fork would be a great fit,

For my Stage I have a SID 120mm, perfect.

If you have a MAX then I’d go with a 140mm, puke.

2015

Bought it year before last when I started collecting the parts, while waiting for the frame.

Normally ride on a Sunday at Thaba, pop in and say yellow, can ask Chris if G, Zelda, Gert, Lisa and Michelle is around.

Doing something similar, getting bits and pieces at the moment. New Stage frames (raw carbon/silver) colour will be available again from mid December.

Interested in these rumours of this 120mm for next year that Nick is referring to....

Will do...those sound like some DOC names to me?

What are tyre size recommendations for a 110, haven’t had to ride in wet condition forever and am finding that the clearance on my rear wheel is not good and the mud actually causes the tyre to rub against the frame. I am currently on 2.3 specialized ground control, so not sure if this is the reason. Can’t remember having a problem with my old tyres but then again we had a drought

On a side note: Am I only only one wondering what the hell is going on with the value of Pygas as the moment? I understand times are tough and it's a buyers market, but when you see full kitted Pygas for sale at almost the price I spent on my frame, it starts feeling a bit ridiculous.

For example:

  • 110 with carbon rims to 28k
  • newish 110's for 23/24k
  • A droolworthy Pascoe for 35k
  • a brand new okayish spec Pascoe for 35k from bikemarket.

It's not that I believe my bike is a monetary investment in any way, but when you've spent so much on building up a decent build and then see this, it's kind of disheartening.

What's actually worse is that these bikes are sitting around in the classifieds for so long. What is wrong with people that these aren't flying off the shelf.
