Im only stirring the little pot with the Hope comment. I have only ever heard good things about the SLX brakes. Not only great value for money but fantastic performance.

Under R2000 vs R5000 for the XTR is just makes sense.

Hmm V

This might mean I'll get some SLX for the Merida, and then move the XT brakes to the "new" order.

Those there are the very very latest M675 brakes, even later than the M666... at under R2000 they cannot be beat in terms of value or performance or finish, or features, they are also i-Spec compatible.

My advice was to spend the saving made on the SLX brakes on the XTR i-Spec Shifters (bad picture pose) and also the XTR Shadow+ RD....

The XTR chainset was however all her..... she really WANTED that!!!

That's a pretty good combination. Maximises value for money and performance

Oooooh, let me tell you the engineering and finish of the XTR chainset never fails to impress me...

Why not just swap it out, or is there a difference in the year model on the shock too? And even if they do it as a "loaner", it would be good customer service. Boer maak `n plan, en dit lyk vir my soos 'n plan wat kan werk!

Yes, Customer Relations 101 - do what is necessary to keep the customer happy (within reasonable limits). Even if its a bit of a hassle with back & forth shipping, so what the customer is not left waiting and disgruntled, resentment mounting.

I like it... think it has a place, will "PoP" in the right application and dosages....

+1

Although I prefer carbon bikes, I've dreamed of building a brushed alu bike with an "industrial" look. That housing might work, but perhaps the current braided "sterling silver" offering would be even better.

Another piece of the puzzle just arrived:

1798g with uncut steerer. A bit hefty, but not as bad as the trail-specific 29er Reba RLT Ti.

Hi G, this is the 29er Fox 32 Talas 120 RLC Fit with tapered steerer and 15mm thru-axle :D

You should see the paint-job on this thing - hot! The paint is slightly pearlescent matt black. It almost looks textured, but is completely smooth to the touch. It is true, no aftermarket paint job would have looked this good. The Kashima is darned sexy too!
