Goodbadugly Posted March 14, 2019 Share AUS8 isn't nearly as hard as D2 but doesn't require the constant nursing to prevent rusting. After a weekend of camping or hunting my D2 blades start showing slight signs of rust AUS 8 is one of those steels that seems to never get shaving sharp. I have/had 2 knives in AUS8 (or A8). And after a week by the seaside they also show small brown spots on the blade. Get some good gloves if you going to be using that in water.Blisters are a killer with a machete .Make sure it doesn't have a rubber handle and the blade is carbon steel. Stainless steel won't last.
