Suprised there is no mention of us 4x4 owners who think we own the road as well!

Yes but that's a given. Well, almost.

I've had a fair amount of decent 4x4 drivers pull off the road when I am on my MTB on a narrow road/jeep track, but there's also been the cases where the a-holes drive 80k/h past you and kick up dust and rocks in your face.

Nope, if the stupid driver had rather continued hooting and then taken photos it would not have been directly endangering the bunch by pulling off illegally onto the gravel at the side of the road (and thus losing a large amount of traction) and then forcing her way back onto the road in the middle of the cyclists. HUGE difference. YES the cyclists were in the wrong to be riding two abreast. They were not in the wrong for cycling on the road. A "victimless" crime (eg taking a photo from a safe distance at a slow speed) is vastly different to a crime where there is a high likelihood of immediate physical harm (eg driving a vehicle deliberately close at speed in a dangerous manner to another road user).

Anine, I am known for my strict stance against jumping lights or stop streets and I get irate with fellow cyclists who do not drop to single file at the slightest sound of a vehicle approaching. But there is a line that needs to be drawn and for once I am forced to agree with spaaidy... Just because some tjop is going to delay you by 30seconds does not give you the right to kill them. Call them a tjop and pass safely. Driving recklessly and possibly maiming or killing a person makes you far far worse.

They were ALL in the wrong....there is no such thing is a little wrong and a lot wrong

I agree...

I think it's a fight for survival, funny thing is I still have some ethics and scruples, I am also a firm believer that the wheel turns, and that scares me, so I choose to tread the line very carefully.

But ,yeah I have become more selfish than ever.

As for me hiding my feelings, nope that's not me.

Did my usual tuesday morning session through Randburg and Sandton. Behold 2 roadies and a MTB riding 3 abreast down oxford road taking up an entire lane and yes they did cruise through the red robots. Its the only way they managed to keep with me :whistling: and YES I did stop at the robots. Oxford is very busy that time of the morning lots of taxi's and buses so its an accident just waiting to happen.

What really pisses me off :cursing: is afterwards when I did my 10k run up Beyers. All the taxi's and cars driving in the emergency lane FORCING me to run on the gravel and bush next to the road. NOT a tjop sorry I meant cop in sight. I really dont want to say this but I am gonna say it anyway : why is it that 99.9% of these drivers are all of a particular skin color ? and believe me I see every single one of them real closeup ! ok lash me I said it

.....I am also a firm believer that the wheel turns, and that scares me, so I choose to tread the line very carefully....

I couldn't agree more wholeheartedly, pity not everyone behaves the same way. Karma scares the living sh~t out of me and it's bitten me in the ass before. Problem is, I didn't always subscribe to this frame of mind, so I'm waiting for payback from years gone by (I didn't always try to be a nice guy)...

My only hope is that there is some sort of karmic statute of limitations....

Sorry. There is no karmic statute of limitations. I think this applies to this thread as what goes around does come around. If you wish to have a pleasant ride these are the four karmic laws.

Karma increases over time. A small bad can turn into a big bad if enough time goes past.

Karma is never lost. It always comes back

Bad actions always have a bad result and good actions a good result

What you experience now is a result of what you have done in the past. Things do not come from nothing

Please note they apply to the drivers of 4X4's and bikes. I have both. I know

dude, if someone fired a shot at me (even if its a warning for no good reason) I would report it and lay a charge too...

The part that intrigued me was that the cops first phoned the farmer and expected him to hand himself over at the police station

A 12 guage is a shotgun, a hunting rifle uses sharp point ammunition.

I'm just translating it as was reported in the newspaper, they used the term "jagdgewehr" which covers a few possibilities in translation, but ja point (pun not intended) taken, rather be shot at with a shot gun (depending on type of ammo) than a proper hunting rifle.
