Do you know anybody that uses the adamo saddle and why they use it? I dont have any soft tissue problems, just those 2 screaming pointy things called sit bones that makes me wonder how 8 day of 7hours + wil make me feel

Like I said, do a couple of months doing 3-5 hours a day, and you'll be fine.

Have you tried moving the saddle forward or backward by just a few mm?

+1 even a small adjustment of a few mm's can make a big difference.

Dont worry to much about the knee over the pedal spindle theory when moving the saddle back / forward a few mm's.

Do you feel any other pressure at the other contact points i.e. hands and feet, your total body weight should not only be on your sit bones

It can also help to buy some chamois cream, or just get some milko balm (also called milking cream) at Dischem or Clicks. Helps to stop saddle sores, which just might be your next bus stop on the road your travelling at the moment.

Nothing like slathering your arse with udder cream.

Edit: Don't look for udder cream at Clicks or dischem. Try your local farmers' supply store rather.

Bought one on Friday, put it on my bike on Sat - in doing so found that the bike fitter had not set my saddle correctly while fitting (as far as I can tell) so fitted new Henge and moved saddle to where fit report said it should be, and went for 57km ride.

Ho my greatness. Ass is on fire and legs feel like they have been screwed on backwards this morning.

Put orig saddle (Gobi Phyzik) back on in orig position. Got B&B in two weeks and figure I'll keep the wrong setting that I'm used to until after then...

You should try changing only one thing at a time. So either move your old saddle to your new position or try your new saddle in in the old position. Changing both means you don't know where you went wrong.

Spez Henge is the best saddle I've owned.

My sit bones have been measured and i have been using a 143mm specialized phenom test saddle for two weeks.

I find the Phenom too hard for really long rides - the Spez Henge gives much the same setup but with a little more padding.

Not a fan of the new range of Spez saddles. Replaced my Spez Avatar with a Henge...reckon an upturned saw is more comfortable and the squared off nose hooks up on baggies like crazy.

That said, I have a mate who has similar build and weight to me and he reckons it's the bomb!?

Dude - when did common sense become part of the debate?! Delete this post NOW!! :)

Have you had a bike fit? Any bike fit? If your bike is set up completely wrong (if you've been riding it a while you won't know because you're used to it and it will feel 'fine') then any saddle you fit will probably be bad.

I was about to chuck my new bike until I got a fit and even with the fit not being done 100% right still transformed the comfort and handling of the bike.

All this talk of udder cream reminds me of a good laugh we had at some poor guys expense on J2C 2 years back.

Day 4 was a monster, down the escarpment and up Spionkop, after 3 days of woppo's tufts.

at the last watering table the kind farmer had put out a big bowlof udder cream, that most of us partook in, with lots of double dipping.

Just after the table riding in a group of 4 or 5 teams, guy next to me says "so glad there was sunblok at that table, I was starting to feel a bit burned"

a few seconds silence while everyone thought about what had just been said, and then hard laughter, with some tears.

Not as good as S2C last yr - USN handed out tubes of Vooma on the morning of the last day.

Some dude tunes his mate 'What's this?'.

'Chamois cream' sez his buddy.

Apparently they were having some words at the finish where the first poor dude was having difficulty separating fabric from flesh where the two had fused together...
