I guess its a person to person thing. I personally don't, but maybe I get away with it still being a young bloke. However, the literature is undecided on the potential benefits vs. negative effects of stretching before and after exercise. One review I have read claims there is no reduction in soreness of muscles, and no significant decrease in injury risk.

Each to his own I guess, but my practice is get on, ride, get off with a 200m cool down before I get back home. No injuries thus far. But that's just me.

Edit: typo.

Yes... at the table. Especially when it's the last taco!

Before I ride... no. I generally don't do anything 'gymnastic' on the bike so I just get on and ride.

Should i? why? am i missing something?

Stretching is over-rated.... Normal range of motion flexibility is the goal. Not all of us are/want to be international gymnasts/dancers

I am 39 and these days I do a couple of minutes of stretching after a ride. I work in front on a computer all day and tend to slouch at my desk.

Since doing some basic stretches after riding and my running and weights I dont seem to get any backache these days.

precisely! I don't do the splits on my bike. I use a range of motion that my body is accustomed to. So therefore stretching is best left in the dance studio
