My sister's in the legal expertise and she said that personally, she would do just that.

This can get nasty - accusations and denials. Who to believe?

The sanction will normally be increased if he B sample is tested and found to be positive. By admitting guilt the cyclist is hoping for leniency.

Yeah I wonder if his remorse will earn him a reprieve like it did for Nolan.

However, there was the case of McLeod, who only got a six-month ban…

well, as he has been taking Epo regularly, do you think a "moral dilemma" would be something DG would be concerned about...?

No probably not... But since he is going to play the hero card now aka Tyler and the boys...

I I have to guess, DG will spill plenty beans in order to try get a reduced sentance. Just hoping he doesn't have much to spill...

I don't get this - no public statement but have some wine and then say "I didn't know"?

Don't read into that, the article was written by Kevin McCallum, a mate to many of MTB'ers in SA, so KE was being candid with a mate who happens to be a journo. I feel for KE, he must be shattered and the article was written nicely without bias, it's nice to have a bit of info and and answer without too much info, and still being honorable to his sponsors.

With DG's previous suspicions if doping I doubt whether he will get leniency as well as is matter of fact admission, expect DG to get a life ban.

That will be a great result

But the suspicions are just that: suspicions. I have heard them over the years, and if they are true, DG should finger the peeps who hushed them up. Of course, then he'll be another Tyler then…

Totally unprofessional whichever way you view it - Surely it was "off the record" and not for publication? Or it was meant for publication despite stating that no statement will be made?

Was wondering whether Kevin could sue David for loosing his income, prize money, etc?

I also wondered that, but surely he only earned the prizemoney because DG took EPo. So, could he sue for income lost because DG cheated, when the income was only earned because DG cheated?

SAIDS has already said they will be prepared to discuss leniency if DG helps with other investigations -- a la Hamilton, Landis and co.

I do not have too much of a problem with that (obviously depending on how lenient they are). I would prefer they catch as many cheats and their suppliers as they can and clean up the sport -- small price for DG to get a few months off his sentence. I also believe in SA he will struggle to find a sponsor now so tend to think his cycling career as a pro is over.

Maybe more like a mate helping a mate say he didn't know without actually making a statement which his sponsors asked him not to do... whistling.gif

McCallums are dodgy like that. apparently.ph34r.png

This must be bad news for Uncle Phil "The Voice"m since according to Epic Fail it was he who put a word in for Dave with a few pro teams overseas which resulted in him getting a place.

I think you'd have to separate prize money from sponsorship money / appearance fees etc. I don't see why not for the latter
