Okay so you are saying that you don't know how much calories you take in?

the wife checked it is 4300 calories a day and if i do say a sani or 3 towers it is upped to 5500 for a week before and during

I lost approx 20kg with a combination of Tim Noakes' "crazy" plan and the revised Atkins Diet in a space of 4 months (1 kg a week, every week) right up to my goal weight (which I never thought I would get to ever).

I found the following tools quite handy:

1. Heart rate monitor - some here mention high intensity training. I propose training in the "weight loss" zone, ie, between 65 and 75% of your max

2. Carb / Calorie counter - I used this tool (on my tablet) to record all my meals every day. I manage very well on 50 to 60g of Carbs every day. Don't neglect your Omega 3's and 6's (get a supplement if you dont have one). It helps maintain healthy cellular structure etc.

3. Have yourself tested to see if you are carb or gluten intollerant. Also have yourself tested for diabetes etc. All these have an effect on how your body processes what you put into it.

Just omega 3, not 6.

And it must be over 100 HDA and in total a 1000mg per tablet.

The Biogen Omega 3 is a good one.

I personally find that too hard a training too often leads me to fatigue and then I eat more :(. I've personally given up on training programmes. No one really puts in the time to learn your body.

What works for me if I really want to lose weight is a good 5-6 hour ride every now and then (and then of course the interval training inbetween) and make sure you get enough rest....

Rest is a very important part of training.

That is waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy too much

The Average 90kg male should consume +-3000 calories a day to maintain his weight

Are you still on the same diet as when you weighed 128kg?

Unless there is some health problem???

Biggest problem is is finding out what is the right eating and training for you. What works for you may not work for me.

Maybe you need to calorie-count for a bit so that you get an idea of how many you need to take in vs. how many you burn.

4300 calories a day is a crapload of food.

Just make sure you're talking calories and not kilojoules??

It is very important to note this when it comes to weight; It took years to gain all your "excess" weight and now you expect to lose it all in a few months. How does that make sense...

In terms of training duration, rides of 90min or longer really get the fat burning motor going. (I would know, went from 40min a day of grinding to 90-120min of moderate to high intensity this year and lost 4kg's in 2 months. It might not sound a lot but it took me down to 58km @ 1.73m. I'm not sure where my body fat% is sitting at but it was 10% before a lost the 4 kg's and gained 1kg of muscle mass.) I average about 13hrs/wk including a weekly 8km jog.

My diet, the only carb specific meals that I eat are before, during and after rides, otherwise it's protein, fat and veggies at meals with a salad every lunch and no sugar. The veggies are also usually about a third to a half of my portions and I snack on almonds and apples (okay some sugar). All this worked for me for the past year. Oh and lots of water!

Apart from cycling what other exercises do you do? Cycling basically works your legs and that is not where your problem is. Find another exercise that works on the areas of your body where you want to reduce the fat. I don't think you cant get a ripped six-pack from cycling and a healthy diet only.

Just realise that dieting lowers your body fat % while exercising muscles (like sit-ups) builds them. So you can do 200 sit-ups every day but not have a 6-pack due to your gut.

I found that drinking diet soda stopped my weight loss. How much of this poison do you consume? I find that when I run ,I loose weight a lot quicker than when I cycle or swim.

Dipslick, are you only cycling for your weekly 8-10 Hours?

How many Aerobic instructors and spinning instructors do you see that are doing 3-4 Classes a day and still overweight. I beleive your body gets used to certain training and stops reacting to them as quickly.

Ive run and cycled since i was 13 (22 years ago) and Cycling and running alone dont help me drop kilo's as much as "swimming " for instance. Luckily im now a triathlete so i have to swim.

Try a Bit of cross Training, actually try swimming to be specific (even 20mins, 3 x a week), i can gaurentee the pounds will drop off if you keep the same diet.

As you said your legs and arms are lean from the cycling, the swimming will work on the torso...
