I reckon this dude works somewhere in the waterfront. How about Pasting his pic up all over the building, etc, can he not be detected coming into the waterfront & check where he goes to?

I honestly doubt any type of recovery would happen, he's sold the bike and moved on eyeing the next one, what this will help is identify him, to be caught and hopefully expose who he sold it to... find out who is buying these bikes and then selling them back into the market.

mind you, has anyone gone and looked at our favourite seller of stolen bikes shop.

dude, you were flipping awesome here. maybe it's not a laughing matter, but I was lightly taking the piss on what is an amazingly powerful photo that would not do so well in any competition. You've increased the chances of a successful recovery here big time. These sort of posts need more airtime, so i was only really just bumping it back to the top of the list.

I'm not sure it's anyone's right to question your (or anyone else who saw this suspicious scene in rush hour) inaction to 'apprehend' the suspect? You thought on your feet, and the results were good.

Welcome to the hub, we like you already.

Take a slow drive through Woodstock, especially near Bromwell street, Gympie street and check out pawn shop near Woodstock polise station. Perp in pic looks like Woodstock regular

You can do the following -

Place a pic of him and your bike on ,junkmail , gum tree and others with reward. Email the pic to every police station in the area and fax it to them with a reward.

Also get hold of the crime line tv and get hold of crime line. That's a very clear pic, some one will know him.

Good luck and follow through with the case if he's caught.

Just a tip (since it looks like you are new here): If you want to p!ss people off, you should post before actually reading a thread (or at least the last 50 comments on it)

Clearly it was not his bike. It it was he would have been riding it? Why only take pictures? Why not take the bike? Call the police and wait with him??????

Because we South Africans don't want to get involved?

Reporting it to the police is like telling a wall!!!!!

Yes, agreed!! ANd IF you question thsi type of thing on the HUIB..your'e flamed crispy for being a racist etc. {with comments like perhaps the bike got given to him by his employer...}

go figure... I say - take bike first, ask for forgiveness later if it was a mistake!!

To all the supporters : this is an update on my stolen bike .

I have spent many hours in the security control room of the Waterfront . Good guys but no skills , they have not been trained to work the recording equipment , therefore no tracing possible an no face recognition possible . It's crazy but All those cameras and hundreds of Personel can do very little for you. Thanks to Frenchie we got killer photos of the suspect . Have printed a pack of poster pics and distributed all around town with a SMS number and R 10,000 reward . Also dropped in at all police stations in town and Woodstock , visited swop shops and "trade houses" in the dodgy parts o Woodstock. Met some scary characters ...all keen on a reward . Emails went out to 90% of cycle dealers in the country and to all cash converters and cash crusaders in the W-Cape . No insurance so not holding back on this one . Going flat out keep you updated and thanks for the support !!

Well I hope it ends well, when I saw the R10k reward I got the sinking feeling that you it was an uninsured bike. Suppose we must all keep a lookout for a fancy spesh going for a song.

Very easy to post that from the safety of your chair. You obviously do not know the area where the photo was taken, but I do as I work across the road. Its one of the few places in the CBD where we do not have security guards.

If it was 30m further down, then he would have been able to get the assistance from at least 2 guards.

And safety comes first, we can always replaces our bikes but we can never replaces our lives. The Hubber did the best thing possible under those circumstances as hero's belong in Hollywood movies and not dead on our sidewalks.
