Classic c0cktonsil riding...

Why do I need to do that?

If they rode like they should be riding (like as far left as possible) then I wouldn't have to.

I mean big bloke centre pic is not even riding 2 abreast, but still feels the need to ride centre lane.

 

It because of habits like this that cause animosity between cars and bicycles.

Keeping left, as required by law, implies keeping left of the median(middle) of the road. Where does the rules/law stipulate that you have to keep to the left of the left hand line (hard shoulder)?

StevieL, give up the fight and just let Robox and his mates ride down the centre of the road, albeit just to the left of the median - my guess is they will be the hood ornament of a taxi sooner rather than later - but at least they were well within their rights whilst becoming said hood ornament!

There are a lot of roads in our country that are too narrow to allow a car to pass a cyclist with 1.5m space and not cross the white line.

Motorists will move to have cyclists banned from those roads.

it doesnt matter if the road was busy or not.

if their is noone going through an intersection it does not mean you dont have to stop at a stop street, last time i checked.

if the road is quiet it does not give you the right to drive over the speed limit.

if the road is quiet you cant drive everywhere in reverse. or drive the wrong way on a one way road

 

if the law states ride in single file.... that is the law and it should be followed regardless

People can ride exactly how they want...

But said people will be the first to cry foul when motorists hoot or knock them down.

Sure, but this is a dotted line. Even if the cyclists were riding single file on this narrow road, as they should, the cars would have to cross the line to overtake. Seeing that the road was so congested at the time, it almost seems impossible to overtake.. We all need to relax a little don't we?

If you are going to use the raod, you need to abide by the rules. If it says sound a bell when you apporoach someone then you need a bell on your bike. If iy says that you need to wear a helmet, have both hands on the handlebars, and keep both wheels on the ground, then do so. No wheelies or jumping speed humps or bunny hopping potholes.

 

Rules are rules regardless of whether they are policed/enforced or not.

 

The problem with our society is that we (well most anyway) expect to be policed rather than being mature enough to police ourselves. Count the number of cars through a red robot next time you are parked waiting for it to turn green....
