This is very hard for me, but I have to admit that I actually like that 29er quite a bit...

Also easy to travel with.....

you say that, and thats all well and good.

however, bike boxes just arent that shape, and while it will fit in the back of a bakkie nicely like that, it would fit better if you just left it put together and hung the front wheel off the back, like a normal bike, would also be quicker to get on the trails once you arrive too.

what it might be good for is long term storage... but that means youre probably going away and not taking your bike, which is a fundamental mistake anyway.

that being said, those Pole bikes to make my shortlist of "bikes i really, really want" especially their longer travel 650b bikes

can't remember where I read it, but the concept was that the bike folded into a volume that airlines consider to be "normal" luggage and thereby avoids additional costs.

Why not just remove the entire rear swingarm then? Seems like it would make it an even smaller package then. Also means carrying a torque wrench everywhere you go.

Seems like too much work IMO.

if you remove the swing arm and are pedantic RE torque, you would still need the torque wrench when re-assembling ....... gut feel is that some guy in the workshop was playing around and it was a handy feature that was discovered by chance.

because this just removes one bolt, and at the same time keeps the swingarm, wheel, and entire drivetrain secure. If you removed the swingarm, you'd have to remove 3 bolts, try and secure the wheel and find a way of securing the drivetrain if you don't want to undo the chain, or undo the chain and then secure everything else. It's just a far simpler and neater solution...

So confession time.

I rode the Giant E/Trail bike this morning.

Game Changer!

That is all.

Rode one earlier this year and I'm with you on that one. We'll have a feature on it soon. First we have to ride these

I can help you test those babies in the dry rocky Free State so that you have a good comprehensive review to report. I will organise the collection, no worries.

This one? If so, I have to agree with Nico.
