That mondraker... Awesome frame but I just can't like the way they've done that stem. Needs to be beefier.

This review reminded me that my Morewood Shova is all the bike I need and that a mid specced single pivot trail bike is more than enough bike for the vast majority of trail riders out there.

 

In fact I think that many of the keyboard warriors and armchair bike experts will not even be able to push a single pivot trail bike to its limits.

Nope. His (current) one is black with blue accents & straight black wiele.

 

And more travel does NOT equal slower. That's just a myth fed to us by LBS's and marathon / XC befok okies who think that jeep-track is considered "technical"

I ride a hardtail (Pyga), but I want to get an enduro type bike. I'm sized between a medium & a large, but my hardtail is a large. Should I be looking at a medium frame for a longish travel dually? Or should I stick with the large frame & short stem like I have currently?

 

Reason I ask is this Mojo that I rode this weekend was a medium. And it felt pretty good - not as cramped as I expected.

Just check the med Mojo does not have a long stem to accommodate a large frame rider... You should ideally be riding a bike that is comfortable with the shortest stem possible. In my books this is no longer than a 50mm stem.

 

I was in your boat not too long a go, Mondraker and a few other brands have introduced the long top tube with short stem to open the cockpit for movement but still allow balance over the front. So in my mind I tried riding a large frame bike with a longer top tube than a medium, but with a short stem. Did not really work out as expected.. I now have the medium Sukuma with 50mm stem and it feels like home!

I ride a small, where I should be riding a Med/large (According to smart people). But I love small mountain bikes, a lot more agile and I can still go to the down an do some street riding and Jumping.

Also depends on the brand, I ride a medium GT Sanction with 70mm stem (need to try a shorter one), I had a quick spin on my friends large Kona Abrcadabra with +-50mm stem and it felt tiny

How tall are you? I'm between Med and Large and the ONLY reason I sold my HD was to size up. Large with short stem was definitely the way to go for me.

Been wanting to do something like this for a long time now.

 

FYI it will work on your force as the dropouts mount the same way. IIRC they have the same/similar rear triangle too
