I see on CRC the landed cost on the Fatboy will be in the region of R600. not bad with the current ROE I suppose.

The Spanks are not that much more locally. Guess it's still older stock.

Fatboy has 5.5* upsweep which is close to the 6* of the NukeProof & brings me back to my original question:

What is the upsweep good for?

Better / more ergonomic feel when coasting?

Got them for way cheaper than that

I want to try out some new wider handlebars:

This 2 options has my attention:

http://www.chainreac...13/rp-prod80324

but has a 9* backsweep & a 6* upsweep

&

http://www.chainreac...14/rp-prod51893

8* back & 4* upsweep

Currently running RaceFace Atlas cut down to 740mm (should have tried 760mm before going 740mm)

Can't remember the rise, but in the region of 20-25mm

8* back & 4* upsweep

I also have a 740mm RaceFace Respond handlebar which has 9* back & 4* upsweep.

Can't really say that I feel the 1* difference in backsweep

I feel comfy on it, but how will I know if I won't be more comfy with the more relaxed backsweep & 'extreme' upsweep?

Bottom line:

8/9* Backsweep with 4* Upsweep

OR

9* Backsweep with 6* Upsweep

???

I didn't like the feel of the NP bars, too much sweep i think.

I haven't ridden the Spanks but apparently they feel good, Spoons are also a possibility.

My personal preference are the Funn Fatboy or the Blackspire 808

I have a set of the Funn Fatboy and agree, and they were real cheap

I'd go with the Spank. Wait a minute...I have! Twice already. They are great bars in terms of rise and sweep. Stiff without being harsh.

Have a spare one if you want that needs to go back to CRC due to order confusion.

In my stable I have the Funn, Spanks and Loaded., :P

All good.

I dig my Raceface atlas bars, cut them down to 765 and they feel really good. I get my matching Raceface atlas stem today too :)

I must say though I really like the spike 777's..

pfffft! only one bar for me...

Renthal. Nuff Said!

ROE is a bi-hitch.

Also depends as sometimes items are lekker cheap from crc & next time you have a look it's double the price!

Like the Atlas bars. Should have bought 2 sets!

Taking a while to get used to the longer wheelbase and top-tube of this bike but starting to get the feel for it. The Shorter stem made a massive difference with being able to throw the bike around and push though tight berms.

Future upgrades:

1x10 with X0 Clutch and a lower rise bar with a bit more back sweep. Thinking Renthals?

HH for short:how do u find hte MM?

Loving it.

Been riding predominantly with High Rollers and Minions the last couple of years but must admit this is my favourite tyre at the moment.

Riding mostly hard-pack, rocky terrain. When leaning flat corners it has a bit of a "O **** I'm going to wash out moment" but when leaning further and harder it really sticks. You just need to commit and attack the corners. Rolling resistance is fair if you consider all the grip, just not good for using as a rear when doing allot of mileage, wears very fast.

I've finally managed to take some photos of my new bike.

Stumpjumper Expert Carbon that I've made the following changes to the stock components:

Fork - RS Lyrik RC2L - took out the floodgate damper and reduced travel to 150mm

Wheels - Hope Pro 2 Evo, Mavic EN 512 Rims.

Stem - Replaced 60mm with a 35mm

Tyres - Running a Schwalbe Muddy Mary up front with Specialized

Taking a while to get used to the longer wheelbase and top-tube of this bike but starting to get the feel for it. The Shorter stem made a massive difference with being able to throw the bike around and push though tight berms.

That lyrik can get the conversion... The min/max travel of mine broke somewhere in my 1st or 2nd ride, just send it then to rockshox and they'll put in new internals that work. Except if its the floodgate damper you took out that fixes it. But have different knob on the right, though after they fixed it.

Awesome shocks! And good looking bike!
