couple of readers on PB or VMTB mentioned the same thing. they can't wait for the modern incarnation, 'especially for smaller riders"....

I gotta be honest, not my favourite bike because of the wheelsize, more because of the nostalgia of the time and the memories I have associated with the bike.

I'm interested to see what this trend will mean for DH racing - but I think it is just another gimick manufacturers will use to sell more bikes.

I think that the frenzied rush to get onto 29ers didn’t really pay that dividends for so many DHers. Doubt we’ll see many toying with mix-matched wheels.

I guess some might play with it during the off-season, but guys like Gwin, Hart and Bruni showed that skills will always trump wheelsize.

funny how gwin bough A farm with his 29er , while being quite risk to he overall on his good'ol 650b ( before the hand injury)

I like what Martin Maes said after winning his world cup DH race. I'm paraphrasing but basically he said that it's not about 27.5" or 29", it's about sticking to one wheel size and getting used to it, and basically it comes down to just riding fast on which ever wheel size you are using.

A nice ol' story:

Once upon a time, on a nice sunny day while I was smashing the Delta Park tree-line:

Sun in my face, overly-committed trail dog in tow, and a beautifully kitted out enduro hardtail between my legs. Essentially enduro nirvana.

Until..

Mid berm rail slash sick manual I passed two walkers-by.

Did they comment on my sheer happiness? Blurt out their utter envy? Give me a mid-ride high five?

No.

All I hear is, "Dude, what's up with that oke's socks".. fade into the distance.

Guess my socks weren't enduro enough.

Moral of the story? I have no idea.

Cannondale had one in the 90's. Was the king of manuals.

Just make sure the spoke tension on those flows is within spec. Lots of failures recently on the mk3

will keep an eye on it. But i dont jump anymore so should be ok.

I thought seeing as im now old and slow i could get a 29er.
