A lot of the hubbers I have taken advice from swear that the best grease is the cheapest grease you can find.

It all works, I have found midas grease to be the cheapest...

Definitely don't use Vaseline!!!

Vaseline melts at an extremely low temp. First ride it will all run out.

Use it for plikking if you want but not on your bike.

The way the Rand/Dollar is going best we get some vaseline, so when we buy new bike parts and have to bend over and take it hard, vaseline may help.

Other than that get proper grease for the bike

I like this one, just because it's the first place I went to, to get a waterproof grease. Waterproof being the impoirtant aspect from my point of view... any Yamaha motorcycle or boat place will have it

automotive/multi-purpose grease isn't the best option for bearings, so the cheap "midas" grease isn't the best. With that said, any grease should work just fine because a bicycle bearings do not work as hard or as often as bearings in heavy industrial applications where grease selection and properties are essential.

Ok so now I got all this grease , just what do you grease on your bikes ?

I'm servicing my bike myself bought the tools should be here tommorow, just want to know what grease to use for the hubs bb etc, and for the disc brakes will Q20 work?

 

Use any old grease you can buy at Midas. Bikes don't require special grease anywhere. The exception is Chris King hubs on the ring drive.

 

No need for Marine grease since we don't have to protect our Jhb bikes against salt spray or salt water intrusion.

 

And, there is no such thing as waterproof grease.
