Valves won't deflate! Help!

Ok so it may be that I'm being an idiot, but I out 80mm vredenstein tubes on my clinchers.

Wanted to take the tyre off literally 2 minutes later, and boom. Valve won't deflate the tube.

Front deflates, but only to a point. Still not possible to remove tire.

Anything guys? Or should I just take it back to the lbs and ask them to replace?

Thanks in advance!

Does the same valve which no longer let more air out of the tire still allow you to pump air back into the tyre?

Try wiggling the valve around, press it in/out multiple times, maybe there is something lodged in there?

Otherwise use a needle and deflate the tube forcefully...

Good luck! :D

Pump it up with the valve in 12 o'clock position.

Hopefully whatever is lodged in the valve will be moved into the tube.

Shake wheel around with valve @ 12 o'clock position.

Slowly release air from tyre so that the gunk you hopefully dislodged remains in bottom part of the tyre.

Other options are get a plastic bottle and fill it up with boiling hot water.

Position valve into the hot water by having it in 12 o'clock position.

Try inflating then hopefully it will successfully deflate.

If still not working, get a syringe and some flexible tubing and squirt hot water through the valve.

Hope you come right!

By that time I've used a needle and put a new tube in, lazy me!

Have you used sealant in the tyres?that could block them

Is the screw on the valve open all the way?sometimes thay bend and you need to straighten them.

Ok so the above stuff didn't work.

There is no sealant and the valve thingies aren't bend in any way. Definitely screwed out all the way.

Gonna just take them to the lbs and tell them to sort it out as it's clearly a faulty product and I'm not risking the carbon wheel damage!

Guest Oom Kalahari!

Punctures always seem to deflate my tyres easily!

  • 10 years later...

I used a hammer and nail punch to loosen the pin in the valve after it got stuck with gunge. Had to replace the inner tube but wanted to do that anyway.
