I bought one of these and took it for a spin this evening. Was expecting to take a few tumbles , but actually got the hang of it quite quickly!

Anybody else using rollers instead of trainers? I actually worked up a good sweat quite quickly.

Rollers are a great way of training balance on the bike, cadence training and quite rightly work up a sweat quite quickly. Keeping focus is a must otherwise you will go for a drop to ground :whistling:

Combining rollers with an indoor turbo trainer and vary the two off is the perfect winter indoor training experience

could not buy both so opted for the rollers instead. apparently it also brings about a more efficient pedal stroke which in turn makes one more energy efficient on the bike as well.

having to balance also brings more stabilising muscles into play.

Rollers are best! I do 1 to 2 hours a day,I start off on 53/21 for ten min,and gear down each 10 min on my pace day. On interval day I warm up and stay on 53/16 but then do 5 3 min interval on 53/11..... I try keep my heart rate as high as possible, basically max, when I get off I am shivering with exertion! I have a better interval work out on the rollers than I do on the road!

Ok - so I'll ask the question. Who makes a decent/reasonably priced set of rollers to start off with?

(PS - I have a turbo already, but am still lured by the benefits of mixing it up with some roller training now and then)

Hi bike lovers! Hope everyone is keeping fit and healthy out there. So I know I am a bit late but does anyone have any idea where I can pick up a set of rollers during these hard times? I am desperately looking for a set, would really appreciate the help. Thanks

Anybody got any advice or experience using a MTB on these rollers? Easier or more difficult than a road bike?

The galaxia has a maximum wheelbase setting of 110cm. So if your bike is large or X large the front wheel is going to run on the front of the drum which is a recipe for being ejected into the TV a high power...

I've got a set and my Scalpel just fits. The Galaxia is a lekker set  and a bit easier to keep the bike on them due to the concave drums.

My fear! Heading off to hospital with a broken something!

Aside from wheelbase, would you say a MTB or road bike is easier?

I would say easier as far as balancing goes . I tried my gravel bike with 42mm Sawtooth tyres, definitely easier than my road tyres. Does feel like it requires more effort due to the contact patch, I think . But, gravel tyres are to noisy .

MTB tyres sing like a new Ranger on the N1. I ride a road bike on the rollers just because it is quieter.

It is very easy to ride on rollers but you need to concentrate all the time otherwise you may ride off the side and through your flat screen TV.

I little secret in the begining is to look slightly ahead of your front wheel . As if you were on the road.

Also you can draw a line on the drum of the roller as a target to keep your wheel on.

I have reached a point where I can stand and sprint or ride without hands on the handlebar.

Great fun. A good workout and it sharpens your riding skills.

Have never tried rollers, my possibly dumb question is if they are low resistance bearings etc why do they give you a workout? Where does the resistance like a normal trainer come from to work against? Or is it more the continuous balance?
