Did you come right ?

They use RPX

it comes in via Linex air services. I ordered 2 sets from Ican and they got here in about 10 days.

First set has done about 8000km and they are holding up very well.

No I didn't end up ordering anything, but good to know thanks!

Heeheehee.....

My rims finally arrived today, a month and a bit after ordering. Not bad taking Covid into account!

Quality seems pretty decent, though I don't really have something to compare it to, so I'll ask Nick his opinion on quality once he gets them...

They come with a two-year warranty, so I'm sure they'll be decent...

Weight: 500g F and 470g R.

Shipping was made possible during lockdown thanks to Fedex. I paid $30 extra for that.

Yea, I mean I really had no choice.....

They'll be laced to Rapide hubs(which I think are re-branded Powerway R13's), and probably Alpina or Pillar spokes with brass nipples.

My wheels have arrived back from JHB!!!

I am really excited, especially to get them out on the road...

The build consists of the Chinese 454 rims as per the last page, built up around Rapide hubs with Pillar brass nipples and Alpina bladed spokes.

Weight including rim tape comes in at 850g for the rear wheel and 725g for the front. 1575g in total is not too bad I don't think...

Cost breakdown for those interested:

Rims+Fedex: $330x17.19(today's rate) + R378.37 clearance fee = R6051.07

Rapide Hubset(R1360) + R800 for a Campy freebody = R2160

Courier costs = 441.75

Wheel build; spokes; nipples = R2615.27

Total: R 11 268.09

OCD exhibit A: See, when the bicycle is in 'picture mode' ie. valves at 6 o'clock, the branding on the hub is visible....

Hi hubbers

I'm thinking about bringing on road rims 45-50/55mm. Ive got Hope Mono RS hubs to build them to.

I've been browsing Lightbicycle(had them before) and Nextie. While on Nextie I see they've got a 2nd site; LightBicycleWheels.

They offer free shipping and the rims look identical, I'd say. Anyone use them?

https://www.lightbicyclewheels.com/

A set of rims with shipping works out about $200 cheaper than on nextie, only difference is no decals.

What do you guys think?
