Maiden SS voyage in the Cradle yesterday. 72-odd km later and begging for more. I still have to remove the large chainring and downtube shifters. Super comfy ride and nice and quick compared to the MTB I normally ride. She might even do a bit of commuter-duty.

Running 42x18 which seems perfect.

Shimano 600 Tri-colour brake levers and calipers, 600 crankset, M540 mtb pedals, San Marco Rolls saddle (wow it's comfy). I need time to build the front wheel that matches - I have a 600 tri-colour 36-hole hub from eBay and some old school mavic rims.

Reynolds 500 cro-mo frame tubing means it's not light!

Is that a fixed or freewheel?

Freewheel. The big ring has to come off, the cranks need a polish, the frame needs a respray and the retro wheels (Old Mavic rims onto Shimano 600 hubs) need to be built up.

...aaaaand mine. Simple Sam bike I got at the Bike Fair. Had it built by Tool-Up. Ran it as a single speed for a couple of weeks and then changed it to a fixie. Handle bars on fixie is a KCNC Rampage I they good folks at Tool-up sprayed for me. Grips are Race Face. Fixie - most fun I've had on a bike in years!!!

What else would mine be? I bought it for R1000 from an old guy in Tokai (whose Argus time was a lot better than mine) because I needed a bike for the 94.7 with the same gearing as my other LeTurbo. Flew it up to Joburg, squeezed it into my old lady's beetle, did the race, and left it hanging in the garage for another 2 or 3 years.

Nils did it up. I kept it really simple. Everything's pretty much original, apart from the gearing. I think I'm running 42/16, which I admit is kinda woosie but 1) I have to do Highlevel Road every day, and 2) I'm old.

It's identical in every way to my standard 7-speed LeTurbo, but it climbs helluva faster.

(That white one about 2 pages back, in PE .... woof!)

Hey Nick

Where did you get the Hansom? I'm quite keen to do another fixie.

I took the black one I made with your frame to the lbs to get the headset sorted out (I left a shim out or something due to the geyser in my workshop bursting and everything getting mixed up / lost in the process of sorting that out) and the mech raved on it. Said if I ever felt like selling it, to give him first option!

Also fixed in to work the other day - wasn't the easiest of commutes, but remarkably fast. I can't remember what ratio I'm running, but it's on the limit for for my commute.

I am busy with the second one. This will be a pure Ferrari branded bike. Based the paint job on the 1970's F1 of Niki Lauda. The only thing I left out is any reference to the colour blue (logos etc).

Frame is almost done with the same wheel rims as the previous one. Handlebar grips , saddle and bars will be different but the same colour as the inside of the cockpit....tan leather. Need to find suitable cranks (want older, track type cranks).

The final touch will be small detail Ferrari logos in key places ......

That white frame is really beautiful and the juxtaposition of the bike against the wall mural is stunning. Well done.
