Not a great comment about Brad's wife - you realise she recently had bilateral mastectomies.

Actually I did not.

Some real sad tales here about keeping the wife happy! Sad when u have to supply the entertainment for the wife, are they incapable of doing it themselves? At what point did she stop being her own person and having her own interests?

I think it's when a man SUBSTITUTES his partner for the bike... That's when the conflict starts.

Everyone is trying to change everyone. How about accepting your partner just the way they are?

Better if you sing it WP:

Don't go changing to try and please me

You never let me down before, mmm

And don't imagine you're too familiar

And I don't see you any more

I would not leave you in times of trouble

We never could have come this far, mmm

I took the good times, I’ll take the bad times

I’ll take you just the way you are

I don't want clever conversation

I never want to work that hard, mmm

I just want someone that I can talk to

I want you just the way you are

I said I love you and that's forever

And it’s a promise from the heart

I couldn’t love you any better

I love you just the way you are

True words which I generally relate to dronk verdriet people, meaning the song. Didn't seem to help him much. The Supermodel still divorced him...

It's really boring and a let-down for the guy to lose a partner and gain a dependant.

I fully agree. and for instance I have a problem with for example : ....say he was a cyclist BEFORE they got married and now AFTER they married it is a problem. That is selfish, although I do believe in mutual consideration, but not to the extent of expecting the other person to change. Then she should not have married him.

Unless ....... it was an issue BEFORE the wedding already, then he walked into it with wide open eyes.

While we quoting some wise words, these from Kahil Gibran sums it up pretty well.

Love one another, but make not a bond of love,

Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls,

Fill each other's cup but drink not from the one cup,

Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf.

Sing and dance together and be joyous,

but let each one of you be alone,

even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music,

Give your hearts, but not into each others keeping

For only the hands of life can contain your hearts,

And stand together, yet not too near together,

For the pillars of the temple stand apart,

And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other's shadow.

3 rides a week ?! that's never enough no frikken chance. Here are some rules you should think about:

1. It is all about the bike (forget armstrong he's a loser)

2. The Bike comes first not the family

3. Everything else comes second. You work and live to ride.

4. You can never have enough bikes

5. The bike on the roof of the car must always be more expensive than the car

6. and ... and ...

need i carry on ? does that put things into perspective :)

Yeah - yeah lots of macho talk. Fact is very often the basics in the relationship changes continiously - pregnant, kids, work, new sport etc. etc. I have a fantastic wife. She was a runner when we got married. 21 years later she struggles to find enough time to train for the Two Oceans etc. with a fulltime career two kids and a husband that works very long hours and THEN wants to go cycling 8h a week. I reckon its a give - give type thing. Feels to me like there are some much deeper issues at play. 3h is not too much, but for some reason it feels too much to her - I am guessing you are not playing the game...
