Coyote Posted April 5, 2006 Share I'm considering buying a new frame. The allowed budged is in the R15k range. I have been looking at the Giant TCR Advanced - can get it for R14400. What other options should/can I consider?

Christie Posted April 5, 2006 Share I went through the frame selection process last year. A minimum requirement for me, it had to be a frame used by a pro team. This was just my way of imposing some sort of quality filter. Best value vs. performance was the Giant TCR and the Scott CR1.Both great frames. I went for the Scott because a. I did not like last year's TCR colour (I also don't like the yellow CR1's, but I could get one with silver lettering) b. I got the CR1 for cheaper c. I see masses of Giants where I ride, I wanted a more unique bike.I'm not a fan of this year's continious seat post designs from Giant and BH. It limits resell options, and also experimenting with seat height - once it is cut, that's it! What idf you want to change to a different saddle? slowpoke Posted April 5, 2006 Share you have a couple of cm's to play with on the giant....
Gumpole Posted April 5, 2006 Share Coyote, 15k is quite a lot. you dont mention important factors such as your weight, type of rides you do, age, injury problems. If I had 15k I would go for the specialized roubaix.
Bike-Thingy Posted April 5, 2006 Share the roubaix has I'm told a very smooth ride not like the S-WORKS Tarmac.

WorcesterWheelers Posted April 5, 2006 Share none - just buy that tcr in an XS and then donate it this way! smileys/smiley2.gif Or in a size Medium and send it to Worcester smileys/smiley36.gifBut seriously, I'm also keen on an upgrade soon. And everybody has only got rave things to say about the new Giant with the integrated seatpost.According to David George this is the best frame he's ever ridden. If you don't like the T-mobile colours, its also available in a less bold option.BTW who gave you that prise for the Giant, cause I'm also shopping around?Another option would also be the very nice new Cervelo R3.... Christie Posted April 5, 2006 Share The 2006 TCR looks very nice. The seat post design has got advantages - it will keep out water much better, wont seize or slide. I wonder how the BH and the Giant compares? Top of the range BH looks similar to the Giant from the outside. For the Giant I got a good quote from Bruce in Pta. A friend his best quote from Cajees, but only after hard bargaining. For the Scott, best quote was from Omega cycles in Delmas, if I remember correctly.
