I'll take 2:59:59, but think that i'd like to aim for 2:55 with the proviso that i go out moderately and try and finish strong.

I foresee one problem with this. Not sure if it works this way with cycling but it absolutely does with marathon and ultra distance running.

Say you are at best capable of 2:50 but you go through half way at 2:45 pace you are going to k@k for the second half and will probably finish outside 3 Hours as you pay back big time over the hilly second half.

If you go through at 2:55 pace, you may be strong enough to make it up over the second half and could finish in 2:52.

Obviously the ideal would be to know your ideal pace and stick to the appropriate intensity level to give you your 2:50, but I suspect not many of us have enough data to predict what that is for any given race.

Yip that's why for me 2:45 is just a peg in the ground haven't ridden a road bike since last 94.7. So maybe i should get on it and see what it feels like before i make to many plans.

I got xx ; but i think its cuz the seeding lady likes me

Waiting for re-seeding, they took no account of my times in qualifying events, so have a collection of toys ready to throw if they want to rush me R150 for the privilege.
