You can ride a pinarello frame of R50k and a chinarello frame of R6k and nobody would know the difference  Scarry

You will need the cash to kit it out anyway... if you have a cheap set of mavics and a alivio set on your pinarello frame it will look "somewhat suspicious"

They make some nice looking fake zipps though

true, but with the extra savings on the real McCoy he can go big on grouppo, wheels etc.

Btw- it would appear to be a Chinarello if I go by the BB theory- as my Shimano BB fits on the frame.

What do the hub experts say...pinarello or chinarello?

surely weighing the bare frame should give you the answer? i'm guessing the fakes weigh more than the real thing.

I would not be so sure about that. Pinarello carbon frames are relatively heavy

Pretty sure the replicas will be lighter.

The previous Dogmas were around 1500gram mark

I find the weight quite crazy for the price, considering that you could buy a modern steel frame that will weigh in that region, and have arguably better ride quality. (at least as far as the average owner is concerned)

Dont know much about road bikes, but that seems crazy. My mtb frame is 1100 grams, can that be? Road bike has a fork, but still. Edited by schalk1982

Even the Dale CaaD10 is way below that.

Discussing frame weight with the Specialized chief designer last year, he said that pros are not overly concerned with the weight of a frame as they will in any event be limited by UCI minimums. With lightweight carbon tubbies and top of the range groupsets, they would rather have an extra few grammes on the frame than have to carry ballast (or industrial cockpits).

Pros first and foremost want to know about dynamic qualities. The rest of us care about weight...

Fair enough, and valid point. But why does average Joe spend big money on a Pinarello. Considering most pros are sponsored a bike. Someone willing to pay that amount of money may not be the target market for that bike. I dont get it.

The target market is 40-50 year old guys having a mid life crisis.Instead of a sports car they now spend R120k on a bike to impress the buddies.

I like your answer dude. I was thinking that too. But I could not back up my comment. But yes, I would not even want the Chinarello. Rather just buy a bike in my price range and not go through a mid life crisis. :whistling:
