Haven't seen any action in this thread for awhile

Busy building up my own budget version/copy of a Surly Instigator 2.0

http://brimages.bikeboardmedia.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Surly-Bikes-Saddle-Drive-1.jpg

Frame: Azonic Steelhead

Fork: Manitou Stance 150mm (I think, no labels on it)
Rims: NSBikes fundamentals, 32mm wide
Tyres: Surly Dirt Wizard 26 x 2.75
Seatpost: IceLift V8 dropper

rest...whatever I have in the parts bin

As she stands now (need to get the rear tyre from a friend)

Right, the finalized and completed Beast! Was a single speed for W2W but now has received longer legs and badder attitude:

On One Summer Season

RS Lyric RC2L with Mission Control Damper - custom spacing to fit frame

DT Swiss 5.1 on Pro2's

KS LEV 27.2 dropper

XTR with stainless 32T, cSixx mod'ed Carbon guide, 9spd XT cassette with "tweaked" Zee clutch RD on SRAM 9spd X0 shifter

Dartmoor 65mm stem with Funn Full On 750mm bars

Cannot wait to get out there are thrash the beast...

It may say RC2L on the fork, but it has the RC2DH damper :)

Unless you changed it!

Did you ever sort out the issue with the spacing?

Yip, Droo made up a custom spacer to get it to 6"...works a treat!

Whoever sold you the fork originally with the DH damper - go back and kick them in the shins...damper is the RC2L...sadly.

WHAT!?

RS themselves swapped it out for the DH damper. That's what I paid for. It was originally a 2-step damper, and I specifically requested the DH, mission control damper. Are you serious?

YOu saying that they just changed the 2 step cartridge for the solo air cartridge, and left the damper as the 2L?

Yes sir - did a bit of digging, its the RC2L. Thankful it is not the 2 Step, not the best design those....but does explain some idiosyncrasies about the fork.

Don't me wrong china, I dig the fork! Works an absolute treat.

And kind of happy with the L part too...
