Forkin heavy, very hard to mount on Stan's rims....but bulletproof. You have been warned

I managed to mount them with a footpump on ZTR Flow rims just before Expedition Africa in a rush to get it packed and boxed.

They are great tires.

Confidence not cinfidence! who wrote the above post?! honestly

Yeah mine looks similar to that but worse on a scale of 1/10 :D

I'll take some pics.

What I've learnt now is that prior to mounting these and Conti Protection tyres is, take a scrubbing brush and some soapy water and scrub the insides of the tyres to get rid of the left over residue from the manufacturing process.

The tyres then seal a lot easier and don't have the multiple "needle like" holes.

Sounds like a factory/manufacturing dud, RR snakeskin has served me very well, get about 6000km as a front tyre.

They seem to last well and then fail totally.

Use Maxxis Ikon as rear tyre, lighter, faster rolling, more durable, and oddly better grip in the wet.

I love the the Racing Ralph EVO SS, grippy and light but i have had quite a few issues with punctures that only the biggest of plugs can fill! the treat also wears pretty quickly. would expect more for the price.

Hey watchit!

hehehhee but seriously though...that pic of thug is what has happened to ALL my RR, I have even coined the term RR sweat. As soon as the sweating stops, you need to fill up with sealant.

PS there is no such thing as a cheap, light, available, very durable tire, guys....we would all be using it, Have tried most, always come back to RR, its the best compromise.

I dunno... I look at the feel of a thing. Its a personal preference I suppose but in my world its about how it feels and the confidence it inspires.

Riding bikes is some [arts fitness, some parts skill, some parts preparation and that all ties together with the confidence factor.

The confidence a super reliable component/tire gives you is worth a gazillion grams in my book. But then I ride a lot of steel and very little gears or travel for that matter. I trust my equipment so I know I can spend all my energy on just putting my head down and worry about getting to the end as fast as possible, not worry about flats or mechanicals..

But you must buy with what inspires cinfidence, this will give you peace of mind so you can concentrate on the fun bit, actually riding your bike and drugging up on endorfins..... (ha, you thought I was going to say something else?!)

Agree 100%. I had a set of Geax Barro Mountain once and they "felt" hesitant and wrong when riding. I had zero confidence with them and as a result the bike as well. Took them of and put on a set of Maxxis Crossmark's and all was good again. Tyre choice is probably the most important choice on a bike, they are the only contact point between you and the terrain.

I have Racing Ra lph EVO front and Kenda Karma rear on Stans ZTR crest 650B rims. The Kenda is bit heavier but stronger than the Racing Ralph EVO. Had lot of sealing issues with Stans sealant as some area we ride in the Free State have a lot of the hard type thorns and if the thorn come out the Stans will just leak out and I have to stop to inflate the tyre. When removing the tyre to refill it had the funny shape solid in side and just thin liquid and this only after about 2 months after refilling it. I do shake the container before a refill. I then changed to Joe's Super sealant and now if a thorn come out of the tyre the Joe's seal it immediately and I can go months before just topping up the Joe's a bit. The Joe's do not get solid.

Also got a bottle of a new tyre sealant product called” S.T.T Tyre sealant “at the Johannesburg international motor show, it is water base and according to the manufactures will last the life of the tyres. You get different thickness sealant for bikes, cars and off road vehicles. It is a South African product and is manufacture from old tyres. Will test it and see if the claims they make is true. At the show they demonstrate it on a car tyre and it sealed the hole they made with a steel rod immediately.
