Specialized Camber carbon expert 2014

Hi guys,

I would like to hear what you guys say about the Camber 2014 model & If there are maybe "better" options? (give reasons).

Yes, all depends on riding style + where you ride. In short Jonkershoek (90% of the time) & surrounding trails in Cpt.

Currently on a HT , but keen to get something more play full / comfy / easier on my lower back BUT also still "race ready" to do a couple of stage races & one day events.

All the reviews I have read are very positive, but there is no review like a thehub review

Price will be +- R60k for the expert ( R40k for the carbon comp)

Here is a cool video

Awesome bike, if you're going to ride mainly trails. Owned one of these but sold it because I liked the more open road fast rides. Go ahead and buy it, best trail bike you can get in my opinion. That brain rear shock is just awesome, can't be compared to any other rear shock setup

buy it. if it has the magura brakes then ask the shop to fit the 7.2 pads from the start

Perhaps an alternative is to look at our 4 carbon options from KTM as well.

Giant Anthem Advanced 27.5 should be more "playfull" with shorter chainstay and wheelbase. Giant Maestro suspension is superb.

They are better spammers than the other importers.

I'm 194cm so 27.5 is definitely out. Also the Trance will not be a good balance of trail & race in my opinion.

Just to play the Trance will be awesome for sure!

Don't rule out the Trance, that pedals like no other and climbs like s mountain goat! I've got the old 26 inch and it's awesome.

Don't judge a bike by wheel size, just make sure the frame size is right.

I have the 2014 camber expert. It's a winner. No brain, CTD front and back. Comes with the command post internal routed dropper which is awesome and looks way cleaner and cooler than the older droppers. I found out that the Fork is actually a 120mm fork with a spacer so you can adjust it to make it 120mm but I have no intention of doing that because on descend mode it's pretty plush. I really like the bike so far. And the wheels it comes with are awesome.
