This was my second 94.7 and again I was left wondering if this is the best route around Jozy. The N14 is boring. Surely the organisers can plot a much more picturesque route. The road service at many places is outright dangerous. Unless they improve the route, the 94.7 can never compete with the Argus. I find no reason why we have to ride through Gandhi square. The many pedestrians running across the road by Yeoville and Ponti makes that part of the route extremely dangerous. At the start I also struggled to see my starting pen boards. Lastly the second last water point is on a hill. Restarting with tired legs was so difficult.

There were many many good things and overall I enjoyed the trip.

Train harder, no need to stop at the waterpoint...

It's a nice mixed route - some hills for the pipsqueaks, some flats for the diesels, some tight corners for the speedqueens. The road surface is a bit dodge through Randburg and down some steep hills but if you leave a bit of a gap you get to see the holes/bumps.

All in all I think it's a great route - mostly because we get to ride roads that are normally off limits. And we have them to ourselves...

My first 94.7. Couldn't stop smiling the whole way around. Loved riding the M1 where I normally sit in traffic every morning. Loved riding through the city, just slowed down because of the pedestrians. Loved the N14 because of the supporters along the way. Could probably have found some stuff to criticize but was enjoying the whole experience too much. What a pleasure

I enjoy the current route. VC always hit the first section hard, especially St Andrews and then the turns to Ghandi Square and the turn getting up to Nelson Mandela Bridge. Makes for challenging racing. The N14 can be a real test if the wind is up too. There are plenty of nice fast sections too, so although very different to Argus, it is a great route imo.

I am quite keen to get back and race VC, how hard are they going nowadays ?

Really???

Picturesque! Do you enter races to look at scenery along the route or to test your fitness? If you want to look at something pretty whilst cycling go and ride in Sabie or the cradle or enter mtb races or something or you can contact a tour company and they will show you all the beautiful places in the area.

Water point at the top of the hill........... I'd rather re-start at the top of the hill with a flat/downhill section than have to stop at the bottom, grab something to drink and then have to re-start, then all your momentum is broken.

He obviously missed the TransAct cheerleaders because they made for beautiful scenery

This was my first 94.7 and I really enjoyed it, I started in Charity group CC. The vibe in the city and the support from spectators was amazing and as for the route, I think its fantastic. A few hazards along the way but it all adds to the excitement. As for the water point on a uphill I would rather have it there than on a downhill, people really don't look when entering/exiting the water points, add speed to the equation and it starts getting dangerous. All in all i loved it, got my heavy butt over the finish in a time of 3:21. Will definitely be doing it again next year and hopefully in a sub 3 :)

This was my second 94.7 and again I was left wondering if this is the best route around Jozy. The N14 is boring. Surely the organisers can plot a much more picturesque route. - It is a cycling race in a flatish city, the N14 takes the cyclists out of the city, making planning easier and add some difficulty to an otherwise easy route. If you want to sight see, book a tour, not a cycle race!

The road service at many places is outright dangerous. Unless they improve the route, the 94.7 can never compete with the Argus. I find no reason why we have to ride through Gandhi square. - Involve the people/city so as to engage the city / people? other than Critical Mass the majority of cyclists will rarely go down-town, so now they see some sights / sounds / odours

The many pedestrians running across the road by Yeoville and Ponti makes that part of the route extremely dangerous. At the start I also struggled to see my starting pen boards. Lastly the second last water point is on a hill. Restarting with tired legs was so difficult. - Train more - you even be able to no have to stop
