Personally, I had hoped that the takeover would make cycle lab more like the pro shop. And nowhere more important than the brochure for the sales.

I don't want to see how many percent a range is discounted. Show me products and prices, that'll get me into the store, just like the pro shop does every year.... I always find myself saying "oh wow, that's a good price for that!" and go to the store and buy it... This was kinda useless, and honestly, your sticker prices are very high so the discounts didn't really make me want to drop the cash... So I didn't...

Anyway, I would say, start getting competitive on price, and then advertise... Otherwise you're just the old cycle lab all over and I won't be back.

The cheapest Crossmark UST and Racing Ralphs in the country?

Matching any price?

Yup, visited the store today.

First impression: wow! impressive double volume space, suggesting lots to see.

Then a few minutes of walkabout reveals that the new store is great if you are looking for a new bike or are a first time buyer. Many, many complete bikes to look at - suggests the retail floor is now the new warehouse, and a complete range of bikes can be viewed rather than only a few as in other bike shops.

As for small items and specific upgrades or special items (Like a chainkeeper I could not be helped with), this still is not catered for, and generally the small items in the old store has just been transferred to the new space. Nothing new here.

Special prices - well mmm the sale catalogue lists a few

The service area looks really well set out, specific workstations per bike, no doubt makes the mechanics job a pleasure. Nice to see JB and say hello. Good to see the service area pretty busy.

I think you're missing the point...

Your prices should attract me to the store, not the store attracting me to force you to match a price.

Perhaps a more economical way would be to give us some item prices that are not rave about on your flyer, and then include that there are more options, at xx% off?

I hate the blanket percentage discount off as I always think, you could always be 15% more than anyone else to start with.

But I'm only trying to help. As stated, I really hope you get to the same level of the pro shop quickly because it's the only shop which gets my golfing money... Don't mind doing that for my cycling money either, but make it worth my while? Not just money wise, but in all aspects of a Bike Shop...

And *** service. No wait...there was no service.

Been to the store 3 separate times and not once did a sales consultant offer to help. On the last visit I had 25k to spend on a bike. Had a consultant helped me and there was a bike I was interested in, could have been a sale for them.

Anyway my rant for the day.

In terms of components we have an entire gondola with a full range of SRAM and Shimano components.

Morecycling,

I would like to visit your shop, but have a question that has thus far remained un answered.

What does your range of Campagnolo components look like ?

Thats my dream shop, leave me alone to look around i will ask for help if i need

I went for a visit to the store today.;

I am not the type of person who goes to the shops (any shops) to browse around but I wanted to see this pump track ^_^

So my views:

1. I got to walk around for maybe 20min without a sales person asking if I need help. I felt invincible. Which is something I like (well until I ask for help of course).

2. Much better stocked than the previous store. The even had full face helmets (simple ones for people that don't want to pay an arm and leg for a fancy one).

3. I lost my one glove yesterday while out riding (was DHing, so take as much off on the up-push as possible). While I was looking through the gloves (wide range of short finger, but with the long finger one of the people buying these things should start asking "what will be the reason for someone to buy these gloves?", anyway).....some sales guy come to ask if I need help. I said I am fine, thanks. His next question hit me for a six "What colour is you bike?"

All I could utter (without being blunt) was "which one?" He of course then said, oh do you have more than one and then told me he would like to get into cycling, etc etc etc.

My question is: Should someone that knows nothing about cycling be working on the floor as a sales assistant in a bike shop? (This really made me look forward to the quiz evening between staff and customers )

4. Nice big open workshop. I almost went browsing through there...

5.. Like I mentioned I hate shops so thought I might has well buy short fingers gloves as well. Only when I left the gloves stand I saw they were on special (well it said 25% off). The final price I paid for the discounted pair was R409. I wont call that "a sale on gloves", but anyhow.

6.. Just btw....They also stamp your slip now as you exit the shop. <_<

I think I will now actually browse through when I go fetch race entries (not to buy, they are still too expensive for my pocket)......

(like I said before, what would have made it awesome is if they had bling parts and parts that will get people that ain't looking for complete bikes to come back and upgrade things as they feel.)

Balls to the wall...

Bought golf pants at proshop for R699. On special for 399, at my proshop on the golf couse every day price same pants R399.

You either going to be a discount meg store or smart retailer with high prices.

Check out the latest bike shop in the Usa - Richardson bike shop Dallas. Lance bought his first bike there. For good or bad.

Proper pricing, at that store they discount 2013 models now at -REAL COST!!! Only in store. There are queues around the block. Cost not catchese.

The R19000 road bike deal, not special one or two other chaps will come very close.

Well, I with you well. You have a super looking store.

One more thing, if you offer real deals I much rather buy from you than stores that don't have good reputation.... Trade like you traded in your first golf store the first two years, you never look back.

I went in yesterday for some stuff, and I was helped exactly when I needed it by Byron. I'll ask for him every time from now on. He saved me a lot of cash with solid practical advice.

Good kid that!

I was there on Friday.

i must say i like the look of the store but thats about it.

It looks the same as the Sportsmanns ware house store.

Nothing for the guys who are already rideing bikes and would like to upgrade parts etc.

went looking for bars and seat posts, i found a small section with maybe 3 bars and a couple of seat posts, wow.

i was expecting a lot more individual items, Forks, Shocks, Hubs, chainrings etc. for the guys that have everything but would like to upgarde a part or two.

oh well its back to the LBS or the internet again.

P.S if you are going to compete in the retails market like this make sure that your prices are market related, i went to Sportsmanns warehouse and bought a pair of shoes cheaper than what you have them on special for.

Great price on the Racing Ralphs, but who takes their old tyres or bike along when buying tyres!?

Was told I only qualify for the sale price if I hand in my old tyres WTF!?

Went there on Friday, asked to get a quote on a road frame, wheels, components etc for a complete build. Told the salesman I am buying a bike this week. I was handed a pack of post-its to write down what I want with my name and number. Was promised to be called on Monday (yesterday) with prices..............

Oh well, I guess it's easier to just sell ready built bikes to uninformed newbies than to do some work for a R50 000 sale.

Yeah I'm becoming more and more underwhelmed with this takeover.. I had hoped for a far better cycle lab, but it's just sounding like the same place with a bigger space...
