Merrell are 'just about to take 5th spot at the world champs.they're currently finishing the last whitewater rafting stage. it's day 9, and that is white water rafting at 2am. before you ask, this is the hardcore end of the sport. not everyone can do what danny macaskill does, but it doesn't mean you shouldn't get a trials bike.

got some more video lined up now.

you can hear the voices of Graham tweet Bird, and then Susan Carter-Brown. the really really good news is that this will form part of the actual program called Wild Racers...hope it makes it's way onto supersport.

I'm back at work after a week trawling the transkei chasing checkpoints teams and water sources.

Whilst there is very little hype or attitude at the event, you'd battle to topple it with anything else on the menu for sheer experience.

Expect several visual beauties to be linked here soon.

Well done Shebeen, my brother was doing this event. 2 of them had to withdraw due to illness and the other 2 got taken off the course on Saturday (their request) - this event is way beyond my capabilities. Big respect to anyone brave enough to attempt this

Shot bru...it's not thaaaaat hard actually. ok obviously you need to be relatively fit. but i reckon the mix is

25% fitness/skills

25% team work

50% mental

It is amazing what the body can do when the mind is right. Sounds crazy, but it's not like you're gunning the whole time and the HR stays low most of the time. I don't think we ran once after the first day..just keep moving forward step by step (like eating an elephant).

Anyone else pulling on a race bib? Dave303?

Negative although I had many offers to race this year, work situation means I won't be on the line on Sunday unfortunately.

Enjoy it lads, I will be on chief dot watching duty...

For 359 days a year you have to be human, but for next week you get to be dirty, smelly, unkept animals and it will be the best week of the year...

The sadist in me is super jealous of the cold, lack of sleep, constant pain you will be going through mainly because I know that for next week your mind will be totally free only worrying about constantly moving forward in the right direction.

Start with this one-

You will be missed Dave!

I have a sneaky confession that I will be filthy, smelly and free this week and again in November on Reunion Island...... It seemed worthwhile
