jcmeyerSS Posted December 9, 2013 Share So after 3 years of riding nothing but a Single Speed,2 of those years on my trusty GT PEACE with 34:18. I have decided its time to try gears again.Don't get me wrong I will never part with my baby and will still ride my SS 90% of the time but wanna try the dark side for a little bit. Just to change it up a bit. Don't know if this means I have to change my alias. haha. Specs: Black Niner E.M.D (old school round tubes)Black Niner Carbon Fork(Thanx Rouxtjie) Shimano Zee Crank (36t Single Chainring)Shimano Zee Derailer (Shadow+ Wide Ratio)Shimano Zee 1x10 ShifterShimano SLX Brakes (The Zee will be added when finances allow)Shimano SLX 11-36 CassetteShimano SLX 10sp ChainShimano M540 Pedals Ritchey WSC Stem and Sweepback FlatbarTruvitiv Noir Worldcup Carbon Seatpost Easton EXP500 Wheelset (Until I can get the Havens) So its going to be a Rigid 1x10 running a DH groupset. Confused I know but that how I roll. hahah. Some pre-build Photos(Rouxtjie made me promise I would wait for him for the build so those photos to follow) Thug, Andrew Steer, Pieter1 and 5 others
deonkretch Posted December 9, 2013 Share Super nice build! Look at getting a Wolftooth or Raceface Narrow-Wide chainring up front - that should keep the chain in place! (get from www.evobikes.co.za)

(get from www.evobikes.co.za)Thanx.I should not need one as the ZEE groupo is designed to run without dropping the chain under DH conditions. JanJan Posted December 9, 2013 Share Does the Zee crank set come with a chain guide, or which other chain guide? Cause a 'Rigid DH setup' sounds like a crazy bouncing chain mess. Edit: You answered before I could post the question Edited December 9, 2013 by JanJan

Super_mil Posted December 9, 2013 Share Thanx.I should not need one as the ZEE groupo is designed to run without dropping the chain under DH conditions. The stock ZEE drivetrain (for DH) is designed to run with a full chain guide (this is still the norm for DH).I'd suggest either running a top guide only, with the stock ZEE chainring OR running a narrow-wide chainring. You'll be living dangerously pedalling hard under rattly conditions with a stock chainring and the clutch RD...

camelman Posted December 9, 2013 Share Without a suspension fork and a triple chainring as well, you are not truly dark. But baby steps..... Sure its gonna look awesome. Love the black. Enjoy the build, it's as rewarding as riding it. jcmeyerSS

Ryanpmb Posted December 9, 2013 Share Hehehehe yea, he drove a hard bargain Come safari, you know the drill, pics couch In time... fitted the fork last night after putting the suspension fork on the Cotic for this weekends Freedom Trail ride so the Niner still needs some "touching" up. Will post once complete. rouxtjie
