Grebel Posted January 8, 2014 Share I have been using a tub of Lithium grease for the past few years. Bearings get repacked every 6 or so months. Sometimes I leave them for a year. Have not had any failures yet. Biggest thing is to make sure the seals are in good order and NEVER direct a jet of water any where near them. Skylark Posted January 8, 2014 Share Also good - Yamalube Blue Wtaerproof grease avail at any Yamaha Dealer, around R70 500g. If you going to the effort of servicing yourself you may as well use decent preferably waterproof stuff, may just be that little bit of extra protection that prevents issues out on the trails. Hence the reason we use it to keep moisture out of areas with bearings.....serious question.

I guess "waterproof" grease will not form an emulsion when mixed with water...? and others might?
