Magalies Monster 2014

Dirt De Vil

Recommended Posts

I am doing the 45km. First time doing this race.

I am looking at doing either the Winter Fast one on 1 May (35km) or the De Wildt MTB on 10 May (35km) as a preparation race.

Can you guys comment on which of these prep races you think will be better. Haven't been able to find out much info on these two races.

I don't know anything about the fast one. The De Wildt has a decent amount of climbing and technical descents. Also, you need to work the whole time. Very little time to rest.

I am also in for the MM 45. Training is going way too slow. Need to step it up

Looking forward to the 40km, recon it will take around 3 hours. After the 28 km at the extera took me 1:45 in Feb I have much respect for Buffelspoort! Those where some of the scariest downhills I have ever done! If my legs are still not spent, there is always the trailrun on the Sunday to fix that :w00t:

Laat year the full field went off in 1 go... Mad rush... Patience... And you catch more that half of them on the first climb (walking....)

I was amazed at the amount of Mtb'ers on Breedts Nek this past Saturday. Probably a mix of guys training for the Monster, Joberg2C etc.

Anyone know where you join the road after the Monster climb to decent on Breedts Nek?

Morning guys

My turn for 'daftness'. Where is Breedtsnek? I know where Hekpoort is, but that is it.

Is it a tarred road or dirt? From where does one access it?

~Try Sparkling Waters..

Its about 20 mins into the hills from ATKV. Its next to Mountain Sanctaury Park.

The marathon route comes past the main gate so if you riding that the family can watch and cheer
