jimmycool Posted January 23, 2014 Share Some people are prone to getting an extremely severe itch from bad sunburn on their backs like this. I know cos I am one of them!It usually starts about 24 to 36 hours after the burn and eventually becomes so intense that you start losing your mind. Any kind of creams/ lotions actually make it worse. It gets to the point where you become absolutely useless for anything except trying to relieve the itch.I found the only thing that works is a piping hot shower (no soap) and the relief is probably something like heroin to a deprived junkie! Problem is though that once you get out the shower the itch comes back.It is worst on skin that is lily white and doesn't see the sun enough to get a bit of a tan - somewhat like a cyclists paper white torso!I read on some internet forums where some women were discussing this and they all agreed that it is worse/ more painful than childbirth. ( I obviously can't comment on that but that's what they said!) I hope for his sake he is not one who gets this.

SwissVan Posted January 23, 2014 Share From a health prospective athletes that spend so much time in the sun their clothing should provide some protection....Teams should think a bit before chasing a few seconds At least they wont have the classic arms and leg only tan lines Edited January 23, 2014 by SwissVan

T-Bob Posted January 23, 2014 Share I've got a couple of the similar Craft Jerseys (though not as porno as Mr Froomes) and been wearing it most of the summer for training and racing. Gutted, I haven't even got a tan yet and still look like a Mudgee farmer on the beach!

GaryvdM Posted January 23, 2014 Share Why would he use that jersey when training in SA? I'm sure he know about the sun here. Why not use one of their white jerseys? I understand the thin jerseys when you are racing, marginal gains and all, but when you are training, it does not make sense.

I guess it has something to do with training with the equipment you will race with, to get used to itGolden rule of racing, don't change / use something you are not used to... Velouria Posted January 23, 2014 Share I can't remember where I got these pics, but it was on last year's Epic. From my blog I still have that mesh tan on my back - 8 months later. although the angel wings have faded... I could have told Chris that mesh tops are a bad idea. And I think it crosses the Epic partner line by requesting that your partner have to rub suntan lotion on your back at 6 in the morning!

He may as well as have gone in the buff!!! I am not sure which is more of a concern though, the insane sunburn, or the porno outfit?

Gutted, I haven't even got a tan yet and still look like a Mudgee farmer on the beach! My boet got me one of those for Christmas, and after seeing the Froome pic, I feared for my skin. Glad to hear they're okay. Edited January 23, 2014 by Tumbleweed
