The Checkers little garden has kick started a mix of veggies, herbs and flowers. Built a few wooden boxes over the weekend from some plywood I had lying around, for the replanting phase.

Will see how interested the kids get once the "craze" is over.

Made some planters for my greenhouse. There's actually 4 of them in there now, but only these two are filled with soil and plumbed. I've got space for a total of 6 of these in there, with that much space between them.

Planted some herbs so far, also sowed a bunch of chilli seeds as well as some onions and baby spinach and mustard greens. Plan is to plant quite a bit more, not 100% sure as to what though - I've got a big-ass outside veggie garden as well where the tomatoes, spinach and beans are already growing.

So this is the progress of our Checkers Little Garden. Of course, what do we know about gardening in winter? So we transplanted the seedlings into pots.

There are a few plants that have died off, but we have Coriander, Cornflower, Parsley, Radish, Cauliflower, Cherry Tomato, Swiss Chard, Cabbage, Leek and Onion.

We would like to transplant them into the ground, but we're not sure if it's too late for that, especially the Radish and Onion.

Go ahead and plant them. I planted the Checkers Little Garden onions, leek, cauliflower, Swiss chard, cabbage, rocket, cherry tomatoes, lettuce etc about a month ago and they've grown a lot since then. I planted the radish into the big bowl you can see in the photo and I've already harvested some.

I'm making the veggie patch smaller by about 15m2, and adding a chicken coop of 10m2 right next to it. Also need to make new washing lines as the one dating from the Jurassic era is kinda long in the tooth now. You can see the shadow line from the house on the patch (well, kinda) that's where I'm cutting it off.

Also, fig tree is SO ready for summer - every twig sporting a few leaves and at least two figs.

So we moved and I don’t have a balcony anymore. Suppose my plants would vrek because of the heat anyway. So I got myself this. Going to grow Chocolate Carolina reapers and Orange Habaneros in there.
