I cannot do the race, simply because I cannot collect a number! How frustrating is that!? I work on the East Rand, but live in Pretoria. I would be close enough to collect an entry/number from the shop in Pretoria, but I cannot possibly get there (or any of the other collection points) during office hours.

I sent a mail to the organisers, to see if any alternative plan could be made, but no response yet...

Is the race too big to accommodate number collection and late entries early on race day?

I am going through tomorrow, would you like me to pick your number up for you?

Or, we use this magical sorcery called the internet, they mail you the number in a jpeg and you print it. Then you wouldnt even have to worry about on day collection. AND before the sponsors moan that they want traffic through their premises and that is why you MUST come to their locations... the "print your own number" theory has its own sponsor benefits that it is a new online portal where the sponsors can advertise race specials and other online marketing, so they CAN get value.

I mean I can print my own CSA license card ffs.

With traffic ever increasing this is becoming a massive ball ache. Soon enough riders will be on the line with chip and receipt, ready to race.

Going to be interesting, anyone have any good ideas where to park and do a warm up (was thinking of the other shopping center down the road - where the big Mr P sport is, might be a bit far) - its going to be balls to the wall from the gun

BL - please wait for me :whistling:

I'm in BL and will be cycling to the start (and back unless I'm too broken), down CdW past the Retail Crossing, if you want company. Slow and steady.....

I did Serengeti like that. Was not the only one. Surely we can apply enough pressure as a group. Maybe a student wants to start a sideline - go pick up 150 numbers. Scan and e-mail. R25 a go. I will pay double that. C'mon stop moaning about the economy - JUST DO IT....

That seems like quite a serious warm up!!

I am going to go to the parking lot at the shopping center early and then do about 4km down the road and then back again.

After reading all of the above, me thinks I am gonna make walkie up the first hill!!!!

No man that hill is not that bad it looks scary but it is not. The real hill start at the entrance of the casino traffic lights and just about halfway up as you go around the bend then it slowly starts to smooth out and then the last 150m or so just before the turn off the hill starts again. Basically more or less 500m of real climbing. I'm nowhere near the pace of some of these riders here on the hub but I can average 11 - 12 km on these climbs.

Thanks for all the advice guys. This too shall pass and the good thing is that by Saturday afternoon its all done and youre left looking forward to the next punishing, painstaking ride youve entered.

Sorry if I am missing something, but is there number collection on the day? There usually is at races (not late registration, just collection).
