2-How do you train,daily, 3 times a week,act. - 5 to 6 times a weak, 12 - 18hours depending when in season

3-Contact details of trainer - john@sciencetosport.com

4-Any other info that you want to share with us - Yes, get a coach, it works if you stick to the program.

My goal is to go to SA champs in 2015 and race in the 50-54 age cat, road and TT and to win.

I'm just thinking, if I was Top 10 and gunning for the title I would be giving tons of advice on this thread, none of which will get you anywhere near the Top 10 :whistling:

Edit - Joe Low beat me to it

It's not just about the training Pieter. It's about the mind set and getting your mind past the pain and suffering.

Would suggest you go see a good sports psychologist

Very true, I am lucky my girlfriend supports me 100%, she will rather have me on the bike than being in a club...but what I do is I do my rides early morning or evenings, so I still get to spend time with her...

What level are you at the moment Piet? You done SA'S or any other proper racing etc.

Do as much top level racing as you can in the next year and learn who the competition is.

At provincials race in your age group,in other races start in the vet or sub vet group.

Get a powermeter.

Coach:Pelotrain(John Wakefield)

I train 4/5 days a week but he builds a program around how many hrs you can ride and your goals.

Watch Supercycling every week because that man is probably your main competotion, and believe me he is a machine.

Like your attitude.

I'd suggest to come visit Gauteng and race against some of the VC guys as those are the guys you'll need to beat. One of the top 10 if not the top 3 is Gary Beneke.

Piet, in 2015 you'll be in the same age category as Andrew McLean...good luck with that!!! If you can beat him on one of the classic races you might have a chance(except if he gets a flat) and then I'll expose all my secrets to you and I think everybody else as well.
