Did anyone see that little douchebag next to the road in Douglasdale with his spraypainted sign that read "pussy rubs"?

Classic! Wish I'd thought of that

Hi All

Does anyone know if all the results have been posted. I was entered in group CC and  started in group CC and cannot find my results.

I did not jump the start, not finish, take a short cut or anything else dodgy . In fact I finished with three other people and all of us were riding for the The Paige Project.

Last year I jumped my start accordingly my race was not recorded - perfectly understandable.

This year I played by the rules - promise..

MY RESULTS ARE REFELCTING, HOWEVER IN THE WRONG START BATCH.

we started in batch KK and we are also reflecting in the wrong bunch - LL. possibly a problem in the racetec system.

I rode past that guy just after Ghandi Square and was trying to work out how he gets on and off that thing.

It must be so scary on that bike on those fast downhills.

Be grateful. the reason for your "LL" start group is because they were late with starting some of the batches.

Group C was amalgamated with Group D and some C groupers got a discount of 4min. Further back Group EE was still in the starting blocks by the time Group FF were suppose to start and hence everyone round there had an additional 5-6min added to their time but it still registered as if you started in your correct group. so to combat this lateness they say you started in LL to give you a move accurate time as your individual time doesn't start when you cross the matt but when your group gets sent on their merry way.

I'm speaking from ignorance here: why don't they just use your starting time as the time you cross the first mat?  Surely the bundling at the beginning isn't really racing, and using the mat time rather than the gun time would solve all these problems of having to adjust a whole group's times because of a delayed group start.

My racetec time is 6 min adrift from my real life time, and they did say they were starting us 5 mins late (AA).

How hard can this stuff be?

It's done gun to mat so that the first person, of the group, that crosses the mat wins the group.

Imagine working and planing and racing to cross that finish line first and then to be told "no sorry guy, you actually came 10th".

It's done like that for the licensed groups, so that the order in the results reflects the order that they cross the line. In these licensed groups, they are racing for position, not for time, so this is important.

For the rest of us who are racing for time, I agree, and I think they should change it. It will also solve the issue of guys pushing in at the front in the start pens.

(P.s. we have debated this before on the thehub. I'll try find it)

Thanks, this makes sense.  So they do need a positive check to make sure in which group you started.  A pity that they can't use that to determine the group winners, but use your beginning-end time rather than gun-end time.

Yes and no I think. The front guys in the seeded batched race for position too. So if you want to be a bit clever you just start at the back of the batch, race to the front at the start and sit on the guys wheels till then end, and hey presto you win your batch.

For the guys who ride for time, what difference does that 30-45 seconds really make? I assume most people race for time to improve seedings or achieve time goals like a "sub 3" for instance. It will probably be easier to just try and make your target a minute faster if you are thinking you might miss it, or even easier start your GPS/Timer when the announcer says GO, that way you will have both your hands on the handlebars when you cross the mats too

Edit: That will be a lot less complicated than having a guy crossing the line first but not reflecting 1st on the results. Cyclists are a touchy bunch.

Yip, if you want tough, you need a lap or 2 of SBR!

I have done two laps and it was only 4 and a half hours.

2 Loops of the Argus was harder than that at 7:10

but two loops of this new 94.7 killed me in 5:53, went absolutely flat out first lap and easy paced second lap and I had to convince myself not to give up. I think also climbing 3000 meters in one day hurt my back as well.

Yip, since I learnt that they do gun to mat and not mat to mat, I start my timer on the gun. It's safer, and the difference between my time and the racetec time is always less than 5 sec.

Just for interest sake, what is the max speed you guys recorded?

My max was 72km/h. Given this was on my Camber, so I expect some of the roadies must have clocked into the mid-to-high 80's.
