Honkdonk Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 When they first used Waterfall estate (in it's current layout, 2008-2013, I think), the race finished on the R55. The 2 years prior it finished on the right at the polo fields. Anyway, on that year it finished on the uphill after crossing the Juksei, a dirt-road section from the R55 to the medal tables/hospitality area was tarred specifically for the event. As the years went on, the race route changed around the development. What stops them doing the same at Riversands?Nothing really. First and foremost Riversands is a construction site not a bike race/mulit purpose venue. So the main focus is on getting the job done - get all the services in, build roads, houses, commercial parks etc. But the folk at Century are very accommodating and do have the interests of the race as it is a good marketing tactic for them to move stands etc. So its a bit of give and take. They just shift priorities around, but its still not going to be easy.

At least he is spending this money in ZA rather than the UK.

I'm imagining on race day, the route being lined with security guards to make sure that no one leaves the road to go looking about.
Bianchisti Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 Thats exactly My point, I end up hitting a wall after the first 20kms since i am way out of my comfort zone(Then limp to the finish) .. Last 4 races all A bunch , i barely hit 3hrs at meals on wheels last week(grrrr). i think i should manually demote myself (lol). Thanks, I was just wondering>Stiek uit in "D" I need a windbreak to get my skinny legs through the windy sections
