So there I was, at the Argus expo on Saturday, on my way to register..

If it wasn't that I accidently tried to enter at the exit, my eye would not have caught this very suspect looking cyclist, smoking near some bikes outside the centre.

As he didn't notice I was watching him, I thought i'd give him a bit of time and rope to hang himself. He untied a bike (don't ask me how) and a few minutes later I apprehended him with a security guard, and managed get some unknown bloke's bike back for him before it was even properly stolen.

I had to leave to register, but returned later and was informed by security the owner was very grateful to hear his bike was with them.

If this is your bike, you owe me beer.

If you happen to know the guy in the pic with the black tshirt and shaved head, he is a bike thief.

The pics were taken after he got apprehended and held by security.

I swear I know that bike but they were quite popular. A old cycling pal had one just like it and I've not seen him for a couple of years. He works for IBM. I'll direct this thread to him and enquire. Looking at his time for the ride it could very well be his bike

I'd be keen to hear how long the police held him, I'm not putting money on him still being behind bars.

Did the security/police take your detail, as the witness?

Was there security camera's that maybe caught this on tape, otherwise there is no case, and the police had allot better cases go in the past.

NICELY done though.

What amazed me at Expo is how many people left their bikes on car rack in the parking. That is just looking for trouble.

Couldn't agree more. I parked up the hill close to CPUT and there were bikes on racks. Whether secured I don't know.
