"Nice" is probably not the best word to use where race ending crashes were the cause for the shake up

Any idea how many DNFs from yesterday? Just watched the highlights now. What an awful crash!

That has got to be one of the most depressing stage endings I've ever seen. Really felt for all the injured riders and have to say that the way the Italian roads get so slippery in the wet has got to be looked at. Even the commentators said that the Irish road surfaces were fine in comparison.

Yah, its odd though dont you think, the area has quite severe winters so its not as if they dont understand the implications of rain and snow and slippery roads, I can only think, been a fairly rural part of Italy, the road spend on the blacktop surface is not as it might be. Just a bit of speculation though, no proof.

Another long stage today, but fairly straight forward, cant see Matthews losing the Jersey today, ...may even take the stage, he appears on top form.

My hope will be for Ali-Jet again, I just want to see him once more flying up the finish straight, "poetry in motion" :D

Well done chaps, pulling a nice lead there, but is it just a break away that will be caught eventually?

It's a long way to Milan

Watched the last 10km again last night with sound and it looks like there was 3 crashes. The coverage isn't clear but BMC was at the front and setting the pace before the crash. I'm not sure they "attacked" or continued at pace. Movistar and AG2R should have a long hard look at themselves for not organising the chase properly. Gap was only 30 seconds but it increased. Matthews did what he had to in order to keep the jersey.

Also watched TOC and Wiggo set the pace right from the bottom of the climb. I never liked him but it was fantastic to see a display like that. It was understandable that the guys attacked at the top which is also the steepest part. Think I'm warming to Wiggo.

As for my fantasy team - I should rename them. Purito out, Viviani forgot how to sprint etc etc. I hang my head.

Its about time Cuddles had some "luck" on his side

Did not get a chance to watch the stage so dunno what really happened but the guys who managed to avoid the chaos will without doubt say that they earned the right to try stay away and the teams (like movie star for example) were playing the waiting in the bunch game and lost out...

The roads there are damn treacherous because they don't get a lot of rain there so the fuels / oils / pollution and general gunk does not get washed off properly, bring on some fresh and light rain which is not heavy enough to wash off the gunk and it becomes very slippery, unlike Ireland where the roads are washed continuously....
