Yeah you're right, but where does one draw the line then, are all lights at 5am stop 'n go if alone only. I'm just trying to get the general unwritten rule here, I'm new to cycling and have no problem stopping at red lights later in the day.

I did not mean that it is ok in my opinion to skip lights early in the morning, I just said I have yet to see somebody moan about it on the hub. "If a tree falls and there is no one to hear it......"

What winds the people up is when it is done blatantly and arrogantly. And I know this first hand, as just last week heading towards the cradle past the bottom of the Virgin Active by Little Falls, I "politely" chirped a guy who jumped the 3 way red light coming out of the gym (after I waited even when there were no cars) and he proceeded to pull a gun out and told me "well all you f%^ckers jump red lights". So clearly at some point this guy has been p1ssed off by cyclist jumping lights and feels he can now retaliate because of it.

I try to not ride unless it is light, and that usually means there are cars out, so I always stop at lights. Not all people can ride at the times I can, so I am not sure as to what the "unwritten rules are" nor can I comment on them or condone them. If it is still dark, I load my bike in the car and drive to the cradle or Northern farms..... there is a way if you try.

I am not sure what the answer is, but step one is to change our attitudes about the situation and try.

Can I have some of that salt and vinegar stuff on mine, please.

Sure thing... Too early for a Tuesday beer with that?

Who's fault is that ?

I'm willing to take full responsibility for me underestimating the longevity of this thread :w00t:

Never. I did my recovery ride this morning already. Couldn't find any ilO's to dice, but I did slipstream a truck for a bit, and then a raced a coke truck past the airport. Must be beer time now.

Is it okay to skip a red if the truck that your are slipstreaming at 120km/h does the same?

So, what's your thoughts on the attitude of a person who breaks the law? You think their attitude changes when they slip out of their lycra and behind the wheel of their car?

Me personally, I think if a guy breaks the law, then that's what he does. Same as if a guy is a arrogant prick at work, he's probably an arrogant prick in all spheres.

I agree

So on my way back from the lunch time stroll I forgot to add this (damn sheeple phone texting while I was walking  )

I Agree

But I guarantee that a large percentage of normal people (you n me :whistling: ) like to think we are not arrogant pricks who openly flout the law, until..... and we can justify it one way or another.

A solution for the 5am issue.....that I've seen in some places could be that robots (Traffic lights) change over to a caution (orange flashing) function during the late and early hours, then sheeples could carry on like they do and treat them like yield signs?

I think I've seen that in SA even.....so it is feasible

Have you ever seen how many people treat a flashing red as a stop sign?

I think they forgot to teach that in driving school.

That will make the situation much more dangerous I think.

Come to think of it. How many drivers treat a robot that is out completely as a stop sign.
