Uni Posted May 6, 2014 Share Hey!!! I started my mtb journey a bit over a year ago on a bike half a step up from a makro special. When I decided I wanted to try mtb out , makro was my first point of call and I wanted to spend no more than 1k and closer to R500.True it was a nightmare to ride especially for a noob but they also market to people looking for a cheap commuter bike. My first MTB was a few grades above that, but a monstrosity nonetheless. It was called the Iron Pig, and for good reason. Never again.did 6 Argus's on a Makro special road bike many years ago when I was young and dumb (i.e a roadie). managed a 3.14 on that thing. lasted me 10 years without a single mechanical. only ever oiled the chain. Everything except the tires and saddle was made of steel. I can't remember what it weighed but that thing was bullet proof and was perfect for the following cycling disciplines; 1. dirt jumping2. down hill (any Bloem resident will know suicide hill on brandkop)3. urban attack4. moonlight mass5. road races6. time trial7. commuting8.
