Suspicious buyers on the hub

Nope...1000 it is. I make that clear when I sell something. Haven't been burnt and serves me well so not changing my formula. For a transaction to take place you need a willing buyer and seller..I am not willing to sell to anyone below 1000. Klaar gepraat. Once someone has said amount of posts behind his name, I can judge the character....when its below I can't. So don't know if he / she is scumbag rower or a proper standup guy / girl

what if they have 20 000 posts and they try to sell you a 3d printer?

This line always works for me. Only had to use when buyer contact via Gumtree.

I will only release the goods once my bank manager verifies that the money has cleared.

Works like a charm, f'ers never call back.

Also, look out for guys that seem impatient and have to send the courier the same day for some reason or the other.

If it is a cash deal, do it from your office or police station. Unless it is someone you 100% trust invite them to your home.

I've bought and sold to 0 post members. Some deals went way better compared to the guys with say >1000 posts.

Me too, with no problems. You just need to judge your buyer/seller properly based on your own interaction with them.

1000+ posters probably represent about 20% of the entire hub audience, in which case cutting off 80% is not good business.

I'm interested in their cash, not how much time they waste on the hub

Topic related:

These are the flag raisers for me:

A seller who isn't South African.

He is desperate to sell.

He knows very little about the equipment or bike.

He is selling it for a brother/sister/friend.

The price is outside a reasonable range.

Obvious set up flaws like seat too low, bars at odd angles.

Won't let buyer see product.

Champagne bike in beer area.

Plenty others if you use common sense.

None of the facts is really suspicious on their own but if a few start flagging then your spidey sense should be tingling!
