Reading between the lines of the V85 reviews. I think the 6th gear is a genuine "overdrive". So it will cruise on the freeway at low revs on cruise control, all day. But if you need to unleash all 79 horses (or what remains of them by the time they get out of the shaft drive into the back tyre) to do some overtaking into a headwind, then you need to change down first.

But I have never seen a V85, let alone ridden one. I think the first one just arrived in SA and that was in Gauteng. So let us know what it is like if you try one out.

I will be taking one out at some point, just not sure when. Dealer network is sketchy and demo stock even more so. Dealers wont let me ride new ones.

There are a couple of guys on the Wilddogs site who are brokers. Perhaps try them? I think they will be competitive for fellow Wild Dawgs.

Plus 100. Operator (Dewald) on Wild Dogs did a fantastic insurance deal on my Harley. Also helped my son with his Daytona.

Like a cowboy aint i.... :)

I carry a pair of specs, a beanie for when its cold and a cap. Sometimes a small thermo of coffee. But it literally is more for houding. Roadster has absolutely no storage space so keep odds and ends in it.

Only a leatherman. And if going longer distance a tin of tyre weld.

The big issue is that most of the harleys bolts are imperial sizes and i have a shed full of metric tools.

REality is if anything goes wrong i call recovery.

I am thinking of only carrying a bomb or two, tyre plugs, shifting spanner and maybe a screwdriver

This is not aimed at anyone on this forum. It's more of a general observation. Why do people always feel the need to counter suggest bikes/vehicles. Like when a person says I am buying a KTM. Then you hear how **** KTM and you need to rather get a BMW and so on. Same for cars.

Last year on one of our group MTB rides, I mentioned to the one guy I can't wait to get my Harley. He turns around and says you can get way better options and starts suggesting alternatives.

I replied " when you get to spend my money on something I want for myself, then you get to make the suggestions". I must of upset him as that was the last ride he did with us ????

To add, my one friend with a world of experience on large enduro / touring bikes used to make HD jokes when I started looking ... the last year though, he has also been eyeing out HD's and even more so now that I am getting mine

One had to validate ones view. It’s everywhere an even included in the coronavirus thread. It’s how we roll as humans.
