Im with you on this one, was very surprised to see him at the race. I must say it was very funny as non of the other pro's mixed with them at dinner, he pretty much looked like a outcast.

Hey bebop.....meneer first off, big respect to your 35th overall on GC....wtf, are you mixing with top honde now.

Oh and I will not do a ride with you again, until you have fattened up to my weight division. So best you start eating pies and cokes tjomma...but in all seriousness....Big up, you a legend

Slobes, I've had the Fenix for 2 years and this was the first time I've had to use more than just the heart rate monitor and pretty pictures - loved being able to use it for what it was designed for. I didn't see any difference in battery usage - I guess it has to talk to the satellite anyway, whether it just records the route for me, or whether it tells me where to go.

JoBerg2C is absolutely worth doing! This was my second one. They keep making the route better, and the vibe is brilliant. They really treat their riders well. I don't think I'll do it again just because there's so many other places I haven't seen.

J2C back to back with S2C - not sure. Know about people doing just that - but you'll ride the S2C trails twice in a month - I guess the trails are that good, so if leave and budget is no option, then absolutely do it.

did you do the J2C with your Fenix2?

I have the original fenix, my riding partner has a fenix2. We both got those instead of the edge because they are more geared towards multisport rather than cycling alone. I used an old Suunto bike-mount to put the unit on the handlebars; my riding-partner used an old polar-mount - no issues with either.

Uploading the routes and following them were very straight-forward. If I now have to buy a unit again, I would definately go for the same option (maybe Fenix3, just because it's  more recent)

That is good to hear as that is exactly my plan.  Want to buy the fenix3 and sell my polar and edge 510

It still has me running

I know of a mate that was in Hospital Monday due to it as well.

Here is my proffessional opinion on this - if you are still running - get to your GP for an oral antibiotic asap, and give them the message to go big with a heavy hitter.

No point in prolonging the suffering - or infecting family members.

I've been admiring this race from a respectful distance but I'm now starting to think that this race might be doable for me. So my question to the guys ( and gals) that have done it, How comfortable would it be for a rider with an SAseeding index in the low 40s, in terms of daily time in the saddle?

Further, I have a very distinctive riding regime as I'm like sludge on the ascents and I let the mad cow loose on the descents. So finding riding partners has been a bit of challenge for me which means that a solo entry would be the most suitable, but how does riding 9 days solo affect you or is it not an issue?

Oh and is there a serious waiting list or are entries relatively easy to comeby?

I wish my head worked like that and I envy those that can just do it! But I need more analysis before I commit to something as big as the Joberg2c, I like to understand what I'm in for which informs my mindset, my training and my preparation.

Glad to know entries aren't a problem, thanks.
