Also a Sani virgin here. Getting excited and nervous at the same time - just don't know what to expect. Got hit with flu last week which through my training regime off a bit but getting back on track again.

Any idea when the seeding times will be released so we know what batch we are starting on day 1?

GOOD LUCK to everyone, see you on the trails!!

Doing two 90km rides (on on road bike one on MTB) this weekend then it is all tapering until the Sani. Do not underestimate day 2. But the downhill into the valley generates enough adrenaline to get you to the top. It is 30km of solid climbing. As was said..once you hit Nandos corner, it most definitely aint over!

And here I am happy I can get 2 to 4 hours a week since just over a month ago.

I hear you boet...it's a biaatch when life interferes with one's cycling!!

On Day 2 profile it has a 700m climb over 35kms, so.......as Clarkson says...... 'how hard can it be'...................famous last words!!!!

Plan is to go hell for leather down the hill to give my self enough time to walk up the whole climb out of the valley if need be!

Its really not that bad, just keep pedalling and stay within your comfort zone...granny gear and time is all you need to do.

Doing my 1st .. any advice / tips ?

Don't panic.  Take it easy, enjoy.

It's actually easy, just can be long for the unfit.  The first half of day 2 is probably some of the best mtbing you'll ever do, but you probably won't remember it after the second half of day 2... :)

Some advice for day two. There is a reason they say take three liters of water or fluid between water point one and two. If you are an average to back end rider there is a real possibility that in 40 deg tempretures that you could run out. Make sure you have enough. Other than that if you are not going out to win it or better a previous time, enjoy every moment and take the time to take it all in.

Day two is honestly not that tough. People push way too hard at the beginning of the day and on day one and suffer as a result.you are not racing unless you are entered in the race. Slow down and enjoy the remarkable route. You paid for the pleasure so enjoy it and take it in.

I may have just crashed out of the S2C. All my fault. Smashed my Big Ed properly. I will not be able to do any more training. Well rested then...

I am fat. Besides that I was hoping to get a bit of the extra workout on the limited Jeep track around Sun City. I slashed the back tyre and had to walk home (slowly). I love my fatty - one should not discriminate...

So went on my first ride with my new steed today (Scott Spark 930). Performed like a gem on the 80km trail around kyalami, carswold etc. The back shock needs a bit of a pump, but the remote lock out will come in handy on many of the fast district roads of Sani.

Chomping at the bit, can't wait.
