Let's be fair, it is very plausible.

I take medications and stuff at times and have no idea what might be in there that is a banned substance.

Personally I will give that statement of his the benefit of the doubt.

Aikonna Boss, I gave that Lance dude the benefit of the doubt 10rs ago and I've still got egg on my face.

The more I am reading up about this drug and it's purpose, the more I feel that from my side at least, he deserves the benefit of the doubt.

Besides the use for Gout (which he would need a TUE hey ne? ;) ) What else is it used for (besides as a masking agent)

I think we explained it all quite nicely earlier today.

He hasn't been...

I am sooo confused now. I read it on the hub and we know that even Gerry Nel has to submit to its authority

Why are so many people surprised? Nearly every single sport whether professional or not has an element of doping. Clean sport ended a LOOOOOONG time ago. Every single top athlete in the world does some form or doping to assist with recovery or to boost performance or both. Accept it and move on.

For me, blind patriotism and "benefit of the doubt" ends abruptly once the B results are confirmed. I want to believe, but I can't.

B Result just confirms it was not contamination surely, he still could have inadvertently congested it somehow.

Of course, and once he's done the legwork to clear his name I'll start believing again. Till then, it's a NO from me.

Extract from here http://coachsci.sdsu...56/rushall5.htm

Probenecid is no longer used by dishonest athletes. Probenecid no longer can be used as a weapon for cheating. snip

As someone said above, we need to know the quantity found in his system to come to any conclusions, but this no longer seems an obvious drug of choice for a cheat.

Replace cheat with stupid?

I like Impey and I really hope there's an valid explanation, but I'm not holding my breath.

If I recall, about two years ago David George took EPO on the Cape Pioneer on the day that the stage finished on swartberg pass (with R100k prize money). One immediately asks yourself: How the hell did he think he wasn't going to get tested on after winning the biggest stage prize in SA MTB racing???? But clearly dopers don't think about the risks involved when they're on jooooce...
