Matt Posted July 1, 2014 Share Another month down and time again to vote for the winner in our GoPro Photo of the Day competition. We've changed things up after the fake vote issues experienced last month. The intention was always for the competition to be community driven and in this spirit the final selection should rest with the community. However, instead of voting from the full month's images, an initial voting panel has narrowed it down to 5 finalists. And to simplify things you now choose just 1 image - your favorite - instead of the top 3 as before. VotingThis time around it's simple. Just vote for your favourite image in the poll above. Note: If you choose to view the results of the poll before casting a vote you lose your vote. The winner will be based on the image with the most votes and will take home the GoPro Hero 3+ Silver Edition. In the event of a tie, a tie-breaker vote will be setup. Cast your vote and keep submitting your photos for June! Voting will close at 12h00 14h00 on Friday, 4 July 2014. (Extended due to site downtime on Friday morning) The finalists: 11 June 2014: Sunday SpruitBy Dorpie 13 June 2014: Jolanda Neff going for the winBy Peach. 25 June 2014: Epic Dust StormBy Dubber 26 June 2014: eselfontein photoshoot failBy muis man 27 June 2014: Whip itBy stokerG Edited July 4, 2014 by Admin Added note RE null votes
Pants Boy Posted July 2, 2014 Share Are we allowed to know who 'The Panel' consists of - for transparency's sake?
Matt Posted July 2, 2014 Share Are we allowed to know who 'The Panel' consists of - for transparency's sake? Of course - it's myself and Claudio at Hub HQ. Plus 3 independent outsiders (i.e. not Hubbers or anyone with affiliation to the entrants) from our adjoining offices. We each choose our top 5 and from there the 5 with the most votes go through to the finalists. alexwc46, Peach. and Pants Boy
Pants Boy Posted July 2, 2014 Share Thanks Admin. So, do you and Claudio like beer or chocolate?
Matt Posted July 2, 2014 Share Thanks Admin. So, do you and Claudio like beer or chocolate? Both! But there's no guarantee such "gifts" will influence our votes DIPSLICK, Super Sywurm and Pants Boy
Claudio Posted July 2, 2014 Share Also, (and I'm in agreement with Admin that there's no guarantee of a swayed vote) single malt whisky always goes down a treat. Pants Boy and Uni
NicoBoshoff Posted July 3, 2014 Share Not to be a pain, but it's hardly community driven if you pick the PotD and then decide what goes on the ballot. Not one of these 5 chosen were in my initial PotM pot. And yes I do feel agrieved that I my brother-in-law stands no chance now. Grebel

Disylizzy Posted July 3, 2014 Share Definitely not liking the fact that you can't vote for all the pictures either. Was looking forward to seeing all the pics in one place and casting my vote from there. clauderoux and Grebel
Disylizzy Posted July 3, 2014 Share And also, it just stated that I voted for a picture when I definitely did not. So please fix that.
Matt Posted July 3, 2014 Share And also, it just stated that I voted for a picture when I definitely did not. So please fix that. If you choose to view the poll results before casting a vote you forfeit your vote - the "View results" button does have a note in this regard. Just a thought - what if you don't reveal the poll results at all until you reveal the winner? Joeboy69

Would you please be so kind in pointing me in the direction of where it states that? Or am I just that illiterate that I can't read and comprehend something so simple? patches Posted July 4, 2014 Share Would you please be so kind in pointing me in the direction of where it states that? Or am I just that illiterate that I can't read and comprehend something so simple? The "View Results" button you clicked said something like "Null Vote" in brackets. So yeah, it was written right under your mouse curser. NickGM
Disylizzy Posted July 4, 2014 Share The "View Results" button you clicked said something like "Null Vote" in brackets. So yeah, it was written right under your mouse curser. I read post #1, that was significantly different - it does not state in there that you forfeit your vote if you click view on results. Generally when you CHANGE something as drastically as putting new little things over selection buttons, for those that generally don't think twice about voting or looking at votes cast, you click on the button's location. It's a change in how any poll is presented on this whole forum, you need to SPELL it out.

We'll remove any null votes cast thus far, but to be clear for any others still to vote: going forward viewing the results before casting a vote will mean a null vote. Thanks,Matt
